It's here!!!, it's still early but there's definitely some cool fungi popping up around the place. I sense an awesome season coming on very early this year and to be honest I'm already having a blast searching for and finding many new (to me) species of fungi.
and the opening picture is...

 A nice blueing boletes

Cool Bolete yo, But aren't season threads supposed to be opened with an active find? It still quite a while till Subs start popping up

The rules don't say that it needs to be active. Do you think they should?

I'm not sure, all of the seasonal threads I have read seem to focus entirely on Active species and people generally respond negatively when someone posts something edible or unkown in them, or maybe thats just NZ hehe. Does the Season thread mean actives or just mushrooms in general, I don't mind, I love all fungi, just wondering if these threads are like active finding guidebooks or regional mushroom appreciation threads.

I guess this one is mushrooms in general. Hopefully someone will start an actives thread when they start coming up.

Cheers mate it's too bad they're not active. Past S.A season threads have been started with inactive specimens and history tells me most of the time we can't be arsed having two separate threads for actives and inactives.lol This is why I didn't specify an inactive/actives thread. Either way I'm not fussed.

A few more inactives. Unfortunately it's still very dry in all but a few of my hunting spots

Also found a blue/green stained branch with mycelium growing all over it. Decided to take it home and water it to see if anything fruits once autumn comes.

A habitat shot of prime actives country

The awesome blue/green log is infected with Chlorociboria aeruginascens. Probably one of the most beautiful colors produced in nature. Cool find

It could also be Chlorociboria aeruginosa. He needs to fruit it and check the spore size.

don't mean to sound like a prick; but read the FAQ on this sight and learn to hunt (the right way) like everyone else had to.

I don't have the entire season to go hunting. very limited money and free time. I just want to know when best to go hunting. I'd like to get more into mycology but I cant do it without help from others. sorry if this offended you or something.

Crazy South Australians have a bit of a tradition of mixing them in together, hehe.
On a side note cool finds EB

First finds in S.A. last year were April 17th if that helps you at all.
I would suggest reading all of this. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14168023/fpart/4/vc/1
Also the search function should yield you more information than you could possibly need. You will need to do the research yourself, people will happily help with your finds but endless threads about weather and location get pretty frustrating and are against forum rules.
Happy hunting.
