The music of Carbon Based Lifeforms is special. Every song has a different texture that redefines the genre of "psychedelic ambient." It's so relaxing and euphoric that I can't help but listen to their music for about an hour before I fall asleep. I don't know what it is, but their unique sound paints vivid landscapes within my consciousness. After a few songs, I feel extremely introspective and can sense vibrating lights (REM sleep?). I can't tell if this is a result of sensory deprivation (besides audio) like a float tank. Or maybe I am in a hypnagogic sleep state? I have not done DMT but this state of consciousness feels like the "Fifth Dimension" described by users DMT. I am also aware that DMT is off the charts in terms of intensity, so obviously music doesn't even compare.
I just thought I'd post here so others can discover CBL, and maybe other fans know what I am speaking of here. Let's talk about it! I can't be the only one who has experienced this. I also feel this particular level of consciousness while listening to ambient artists such as Brian Eno and Michael Stearns. I am so glad to have discovered this world of music (new age, ambient). It's helped me so much with depression and dealing with all the BS in life. I can just zone out at the end of a long day and finally breathe. But my friends all call it weird and "gay." Whatever... Take a listen!
dmt is pretty great, i've only had it from my toads not from plants but i wouldnt compare to ambient music i like ambient music when i'm high on opiates not hallucinogens, dmt is far superior to ambient music even though i love music.
-------------------- Vegetation has crawled for miles towards the cities. It is waiting. Once the city is dead, the vegetation will cover it, will climb over the stones, grip them, search them, make them burst with its long black pincers; it will blind the holes and let its green paws hang over everything.

Oh you're more than welcome. Its really great music. I feel very optimistic and at peace when listening.
Great for meditating, working, studying, driving, tripping... anything really
It's just so mellow and relaxed. There newer stuff ("Interloper" and Twentythree") is really spacey and makes me feel like I'm floating away. Incredible feeling. But their older albums ("World of Sleepers" and "Hydroponic Garden") leave me absolutely speechless. All of their songs seem to be living. Breathing. If you ever can take a comtemplative walk through a forest with a CBL playlist on, you are in for a real treat.
