Just mix it up more thoroughly. That's where the gaps come from...maybe use more spawn, what? Don't drill more holes in the tub, it's not like it needs FAE to spawn, just GE.
Also, I'd run with the whole thermometer idea, that's amazing.  At least it'll take your mind off the contam issue.

It is, it does, it's the pits. The trich (a parasite on the mycelium) doesn't grow until the substrate is colonized. That's a total bummer...

have you watched professor pinheads video on spawning to bulk in a monotub??he mixes /i layer....takes us both 5 minutes flat to spawn a tub....

Just a comment about something I read on the first page about substrate depth. I read a post from RR a few days ago where he said about 2" is better than the old school method of using 4"-5". I am new to the sport, but next bulk box, I am gonna try 2".

with some clean agar to grains...g2g's and make your tubs like PP does in the video....you will get tons of fruits soon brother,,i promise you..... and you will love the steam box too ..fuck trich

RR's saying you can get more production from two 2" subs than one 4" sub. Since he's usually right, the only downside is that you need twice as many tubs and/or FC space to pull this off. Definitely something I'm thinking about though.
