All the other candidates are better than romney. Any of them. Even Donald Trump would be better. Santorum/Gingrich 2012 would be a good ticket.

He believed that the first 2 would inevitably lead to despair.
The aesthetic which consisted of living life only to please the 5 senses with no particular disregard for others would lead to a shallow, bored, and frustrated life with no meaning.
Hence apathy equals aesthetic and eventually a frustrated existence.
