What books have inspired you and kept you interested?? I have a short list of books I've read so far and am looking into finding more books. Here's my short list:
Autobiography of a Yogi- Yogananda Living with the Himalayan Masters - Swami Rama The Art of Joyful Living- Swami Rama Be here now- Ram Das The Only Dance there Is- Ram Das
All those are great and full of useful information for those spiritually inclined.

'the crystal and the way of light' by chogyal namkhai norbu rinpoche is a great introduction to the buddhist teachings of dzogchen
there have been many others i've enjoyed too, but that's what comes to mind for now

Next time you pick it up, post some please?
I have way too many unread books to buy another, but i like the sound of that, i loved the precious treasury of the basic space of phenomena a lot, so would like to hear more from the dzogchen tradition
As far as books...
Talks with Ramana Maharshi Probly the strongest current of light i have ever picked up in paper form. Printed in the original question/answer format throughout it he clears up the doubts of hundreds of seekers. Ramana hardly ever spoke apart from when asked a question, he was thoroughly consumed by silence & his words are permeated by that silence. After reading this book and have its truths hit me, i didn't pick up another book for months.
The manner in which i read it was with initial confusion, but also behind that confusion total trust that Ramana's grace would clear those doubts in myself, which happened everytime. Each time i read something & felt slightly unclear about it, i would trust that it would be revealed, keep reading on, and within a short space of time, although having forgetten about the doubt, i would be hit with a bolt of realization, clearing up exactly whatever i was originally doubtful of.
Im currently reading 'the precious treasury of the basic space of phenomena' by Lonchenpa & its great. One of my favorites for sure, i would like to read other translations aswell though...
I love Be Here Now also, excellent book, very entertaining, it comes out every time i trip even if i don't open it

The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron is a useful book for creatives who are struggling to maintain motivation.
If you can read past all the references to 'god' it contains lots of stuff about positive thinking and how to maintain your creativity and motivation.

i would love to but i don't think it's the kind of book for doing that - it's not a text like longchenpa's where it's full of deep wisdom line after line - but rather more a general overview of the whole dzogchen path and the author's life stories enmeshed together - so you almost have to read the whole thing to get it's effect and see the entire view of dzogchen that it presents. in that sense, it's more a 'book' than a 'spiritual text'
though if i do read it again, which i probably will sometime, and if i come across any gems, i'll make a point to post them
the 'song of the vajra' that i posted in the quotes thread is from this book - http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14943966#14943966 (it originally comes from a dzogchen tantra, but is included as a reference in the book)

Manly P Hall is my favorite spiritual/Philosophical author of all time
he has a lot of small pamphlet sized essays and some good full books on pretty mush every subject in Philosophy and esotericism
The Philosophical Research Society
--------------------

these rhymes twist and wrap together in the way spirit and element interact. I keep my mind in motion like a train gains momentum when it goes of track, I want you to notice the commotion this is just a part of the magic potion new ways of focusing in noticing old wounds left open can now be stitched clean, no longer a heart forced into a machine. Because if the genetic codes know how to make biologic matter grow then I guess past problems don't mater .

Great quote, im sure i read it before in that thread, it's worth posting again...
When you said vajra you instantly reminded me of this song... the perfect backdrop for taking in the following script
The Song of the Vajra
Unborn, yet continuing without interruption, neither coming nor going, omnipresent, Supreme Dharma, unchangeable space, without definition, spontaneously self-liberating-- perfectly unobstructed space-- manifest from the very beginning, self-created, without location, with nothing negative to reject, and nothing positive to accept, infinite expanse, prenetrating everywhere, immense, and without limits, without ties, with nothing even to dissolve or to be liberated from, manifest beyond space and time, existing from the beginning, immense ying, inner space, radiant through clarity like the sun and the moon, self-perfected, indestructible like a Vajra, stable as a mountain, pure as a lotus, strong as a lion, incomparable pleasure beyond all limits, illumination, equanimity, peak of the Dharma, light of the universe, perfect from the beginning.

I Am That by Nisargadatta Maharaj.
"It is because the 'I Am' is false that it wants to continue. Reality need not continue- knowing itself indestructible, it is indifferent to the destruction of forms and expressions."
"Was I really born? Am I really so-and-so? How do I know that I exist? Who are my parents? Have they created me, or have I created them?"
"Once you realize that all comes from within, that the world in which you live has not been projected onto you but by you, your fear comes to an end."
The books by Carlos Castaneda. From "The Power of Silence"
"It overtook me and its blackness covered me. And the light of my life was gone. My hell had ended. I was finally dead! I was finally free!"
"Your problem is very simple," he said. "You become easily obsessed. I have been telling you that sorcerers stalk themselves in order to break the power of their obsessions."
"No," he said with conviction. "Death is not an enemy, although it appears to be. Death is not our destroyer, although we think it is."
