I know this is an old thread but over the last year of going over all this info multiple times i have gained an astounding amount of knowledge on cultivating mushrooms. I feel like this is one of the main reasons if not thee main reason i'm not a newb anymore. So im reviving it for all those impatient newbs who try to grow before they have the understanding of what they are supposed to be doing. So do yourself a favor and read through this you'll learn a thing or two 
Thanks so much RR for your endless wisdom its greatly appreciated by all your fellow friends here on the Shroomery!
