Who Killed Dubstep?

I notice Dubstep is a common topic here in the Pub, weather people are supporting it or bashing it, it's becoming more and more discusses and discussed. I feel like everyone should read this so they at least semi know what they're talking about in the future. Trust me, it's a great read.

(No clue if I said what I set out to say, mostly because drugs are bad, but there's a link, discuss!)

So much yes, I remember the first time I listened to Archangel, it's up there on the nostalgia meter with talespin, the best show ever made.

LOL Hell yeah! I almost forgot about that awesome show! Inadvertently, you mentioning Tailspin triggered something in my mind to bring back memories of playing Chip and Dale on the NES. <3
But yes, first time I heard Archangel I was tripping hard and just fell into it, making ~4minutes seem like a lifetime of experiences.
Edit: This song has always stuck with me too. A little more obscure than Archangel, but amazing none the less.
Really wish I could find a better quality version : (

i don't think dubstep is dead. There is as much medi style being made as ever. Plenty of squelch being made everywhere.
Some new sounds too. There are a couple dudes like subfiltronic all making some interesting stuff.
Grime still has tons of room to get bigger. Dubrap still has tons of space to grow.
Its funny, i was remembering today how the first dubstep party i went to, in 2005 was just me, my girlfriend and the DJ. I'm gearing up for flux on NYE at some convention center. Its going to be the exact opposite of how it used to be.
I dunno i'm happy with the change. Partying by myself was cool and fun, but only for a time.
edit: the real change is back in the day, you didn't listen to dubstep or go out to a show to have fun. The vibe was much more dark? serious? unhappy? back in the day. No one was on X or acid.
All the new people want to have fun, and the music/parties have changed to accommodate them.

Good article OP!
For the most part I've given up trying to find new dubstep but i've long since veered off in my own direction finding electronic chill wobble music that makes my heart zing..So I thank dubstep to opening doors to such obscure corners of the music world. Open Minds go places

Personally, I view dubstep and wubstep to be two completely different genres which share similar traits. Dubstep is bass driven, wubstep is mid-range driven. I like both in different situations, but there definitely needs to be an official splitting of the two; they're way too different to be considered the same genre.

This is so true; I feel this to be true about the whole electronic scene to be honest. It's why I stopped going to parties. Back then everything had a feeling of being "sorrowfully empowered", whereas now its all about just partying and having a great time. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I miss the underground feel of a bunch of people coming to an abandoned warehouse and coming together in the darkest and dingiest place and finding love in the most run down places.

i moved recently. When i first got here i went to a show, and internally laughed my ass off because there were all these people (lots of kids but older folks too!) with hulu hoops and glow sticks. I had never seen that at a dubstep show before in NY.
I dunno. Its better than being alone and if they want to have fun you know what fuck it, i don't mind them having fun.
Its just a different feel.
To give credit i also caught some guys playing a month or two ago that was entirely a deep set, and it rocked me. The crowd was okay into it also.

I always thoughts Dubstep would be better named SubStep since most of the wobblie sounds coming from the lower range!
