Costa Rica Hunting #1: Unknown Fungi and Wood Ears
    #15544372 - 12/20/11 11:30 AM (1 year, 4 months ago)

Some pics from my first, short mushroom hunting in Costa Rica.

Wood ears, I believe.

Unknown fungi.  Found in garden with clay soil, spore print rusty brown.

Always looking for interesting active prints (especially Gymnopilus spp. and sclerotia producers) and cacti and poppy seeds.

Your unknown fungus looks to be a Conocybe. Some pictures from different angles would've aided identification.

:mushroom2: Looking for Psilocybe mexicana spores. :mushroom2:

Your wood ears are beautiful, not certain if they are Auricularia species or Crepidotus though.  Costa Rica looks lovely!

I'm currently just outside of Dominical, a little town near Costa Rica.  Where Have you been hunting day_tripper?  Would really like to find some Ps. cubensis, Pan. cyanescens, or Ps. mexicana! Are all the cow fields prime for Ps. cubensis and Pan. cyanescens right now?

Oooh, how big are those mushrooms? If they're any size at all there's a huge beetle under one of them about half way down the group.
