aaaand I reached my upload limit.
anywho, I found these in huge numbers in the Gwinnett Co woods this morning.
I have a ton more pics, I'm thinking about upgrading to a supporter account. So are these fellers worth going back for tomorrow?
I love the caramel caps with the white on the edges. I'm taking a spore print of several of the larger ones I found (about 3 - 4 inches tall, growing out of the forest floor which is comprised of lots of decaying leaves and pine needles.
there are lots of loblolly in the area, including some pine beetle damaged downed trees and I can hunt completely unobserved.
I found this by gently pulling back layers of pine needs and debris and after 2 layers I would find these in little bunches, usually in scattered patches going downhill from standing, un-pine beetle damaged loblolly.
they smell nice, but I'm terrible at giving names to scents. They kind of smell like the mulchy forest floor to me.
what are they? thanks in advance, I'll update later if I can upload again...
