I just took my first dose of 75mg of Venlafaxine / effexor, I found very mixed reports of its effects of erowid, ranging from extremely bad to very good. Is there any sort of acute feelings of this medication that I will experience on the first day?

I have taken effexor for 5 years.
I felt awesome even though things around me weren't all right. My parents noticed that I was becoming too detached from reality. I had to quit due to becoming too apathetic to things around me. I was sinking money every month and accumulating a big debt without even having the slightest worry about it. I was just content no matter what.
Also, The first month I started taking Effexor, I started drinking everyday. Apparently its a very common side effect. Many people became alcoholics because off Effexor and a few class action lawsuits were made because of this and off course... didn't work. It makes drinking better and without consequence. You will never have a hangover from alcohol while on Effexor. I seriously recommend that you do not drink AT ALL EVER because you will immediately have craving for alcohol even if you are not a regular drinker or if you do not currently enjoy drinking. I hated drinking before Effexor.
The withdrawal was intense. Once you quit the medication the brain zaps and vertigo are very strong. But trust me, you will notice it by yourself the first day you forget to take Effexor.
Personally I would not recommend that you start taking this, but its your choice. I felt like a million bucks on that med, its the people around me that noticed that thing were not right.
You will definitely never feel depression ever again, even if the shit hits the fan.

Hey man, maybe that's what I need right now. I have psychosis and psychotic major depression and severe social anxiety disorder. I feel really good and not even derealized like I normally am right now. I've withdrawaled a lot from a lot of different things so when the time comes that I want to get off of this stuff I'll just have to bite the bullet. I'm kind of rationalizing things like I'm on an amphetamine right now hahahaha, but I don't really feel "high" just kinda a "strange night" feeling. A little bit trippy in the headspace. I'll be sure to avoid drinking though, I don't normally drink anyway. Thanks for the advice. I might miss a dose on purpose to see what I'm up against in about a week and if it's to much I'll probably get off of it right then.

I took it for 5 days. First 3 days at 37.5mg and the last 2 days at 75mg.
The first 3 days felt like I was mildly rolling. The 2 last days when I upped the dose, I couldn't even get out of bed. I lost fine motor skills, couldn't even write with a pen. Felt so horrible I was never so close in my life to killing myself.
So that was enough of that. Me + Antidepressants = bad news bears.
-------------------- Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.

I started off on 75mg and so earlier today I felt real good and positive, not really high. Now I feel kinda nauseous like a very mild amphetamine comedown but I still sorta feel little pings of good feelings in my head. Shit's pretty fucked up but it's to early to make my judgement on it yet.
Edit: I'm yawning a lot too and every time after I yawn it feels like my jaw is stuck open and I feel like I'm going to vomit almost.
