Abnormal Pin Growth...Low Humidity or Poor FAE??

I birthed these cakes 6 days ago and started to see the first signs of pinning on day 3. Within one day of growth, I could tell that some factor was preventing the pins from forming correctly. I'm guessing either the humidity is too low or the pins are not receiving enough FAE. My SGFC has 1/4 in. holes every 2 in. on all 6 sides, is raised off a work bench with a few jar bands, and has 5 in. of soaked perlite in the bottom. The temperature is around 72-74 F with a room humidity of 30-40%. I could only find cheap digital hygrometers in town so I have to wait until the one I ordered on the internet gets here so I can have an accurate FC humidity reading; right now the cheap digital hygrometer reads anywhere from 80-88% humidity, dropping to 65-75% after fanning but, like I said, it's from Walmart so who knows what it actually is. 3-5 times a day I mist then fan immediately afterwards for about 20-40 seconds with a miniature box fan on the 'Low' setting. To begin with, I was using the lid of the FC to fan but when the abnormal growth started, I switched to a fan in order to get more FAE. Another question, may sound stupid but I wasn't sure what most people use to 'fan' their cakes. I've done multiple searches on the forums about the topic and I can't get a definite answer; do you use the lid of the FC, a small fan (as I currently am), a big fan, or just your hand? Anyway if anyone can tell if this growth is due to a humidity or FAE problem, that would be great..thanks in advance!

tiny caps like that are usually due to insufficient light or the wrong spectrum of light
i use the lid to fan and fan for 30 seconds

I have had pins on cakes look similar. Keep misting followed by fanning and humidity should stay high. My pins grew into normal looking ones with time. They seemed to have a thin layer of myc over them giving them that weird look, but they eventually grew out of it into normal fruiting mushrooms. I'm also assuming you had just misted when the pic was taken, otherwise you might have too much moisture in there. With misting you shouldn't ever really have water droplets forming on the pins or cake, just a thin veil of water that quickly evaporates.
Another note on keeping track of humidity - whenever I take off the lid I stick my nose/face in a little ways and take a whiff through my nose. You should be able to feel/smell the high humidity and different climate without a problem. If you take a whiff and it smells stale, add more FAE. If you take a whiff and it smells like it does outside after a storm then you're probably doing pretty good.

I have two light lamps pointed at the FC, one 2.5 ft away pointed at a 35 degree angle and one 3.5 ft away pointed at a 50 degree angle.
I'm using CFL bulbs rated at 1600 lumens and 5000K (I believe). I wanted to a bulb with a higher K value but that was the highest I could find in my area.

That's bad genetics. I'd pick them off now and hope for a better second flush. RR

Don't mean to thread jack but I checked my one cake that has myc growing outward and it's blue not green and has a mushroomy smell...it grew outward from the bottom corner and when I picked it up it just dangled off the bottom...it almost seems as if some of the verm casing fell off and on to the foil and then became colonized

Both cakes still have new pins forming each day...should I remove even the really tiny pins and go ahead and dunk them?
These cakes started pinning in the jars about 2.5 weeks before I was able to birth them (tall 1/2 pint jars made for a longer consolidation time). Due to the large amount of mushroom growth that took place in-vitro, the cakes were quite hard to remove from the jars and caused bruising on almost all the pins so I harvested them all before the dunk. Some of the mushrooms were fairly big and did not seem deformed in any way....not sure if this extra info changes the diagnosis or played a part my current situation but I figured I would mention it..

RR says it's bad genetics...both cakes are still pinning so how should I go about ending this flush and encouraging a new one? Should I pick all the pins and go ahead with a 2nd 24 hour dunk?
Also, is it possible for bad genetics not to show up until the 2nd flush? Technically that's the flush I'm on if you count the pins and mushrooms that grew in-vitro before birthing as the first flush.
Finally, is it safe to eat a mushie that grew out of bad genetics?
