Feds bust medical marijuana growers October 14, 2011 - 9News
DENVER - Federal agents have seized two large-scale medical-marijuana grow operations in the Denver area and arrested four people, 9Wants to Know has learned.
About 1,000 plants were seized at a warehouse grow facility near East 38th Avenue and Forrest Street Thursday evening. That's south of Interstate 70 near Holly Street.
Agents went to a second facility, Cherry Top Farms, which has a medical-marijuana dispensary and found about 2,100 marijuana plants, 9Wants to Know has also learned. This location was at Brighton Boulevard and East 48th Avenue. That's north of I-70.
Ha Do, 48, Nathan Do, 21, Hai Do, 44, and Richard Crosse, 48, were all arrested. Ha and Nathan were arrested without incident. Police are still searching for Richard Crosse and Hai Do.
The grow operations were described as professional nursery grow operations. According to the Department of Justice, Crosse owned the building where the marijuana was grown and was an investor in Do's allegedly illegal business.
Federal agents had previously seized plants at the first facility this summer. The second location is three blocks from Elyria Park.
Marijuana grows, even for medicinal use, violate federal drug laws. Medical marijuana is regulated, and if growers and users follow state rules, it is legal under state law.
According to the Department of Justice, Ha Do was the general manager of the grow operation, Hai Do was the owner of the business and Nathan Do was the grower. There was a business agreement between the Dos and Crosse, according to officials.
"We are 100% compliant" with state medical marijuana laws, a Cherry Top Farms manager told Westword after the raid. "But when the feds walk in, they can do whatever the hell they want." Local police had issues with the contract grower who was the original target of the raid, the manager said. "They came to take care of him, but when they got here, they were unable to turn a blind eye, and they did a lot of damage," he complained.
When the first officers showed up late Thursday morning, "it was the Denver Police Department, and then it was the state Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division. Then there were the feds. When they got here, they decided they needed a search warrant for us, too," the manager explained. "They lined us all up and questioned us and took our phones and [state mandated ID] badges. Then they gave some of the option to leave, after they handed over their IDs. But a few of chose to stay, and we were forced to wait in a two-parking space area, probably 10 feet by 10 feet, from 11:00am to 11:00pm. They did let us go to the bathroom, but you definitely had to ask permission to take a piss."
The raiders cleaned out Cherry Top, the manager said. "They took all of our live plants, all of our medicine, all of our extracts, and all of our baked goods," plus at least one more thing. "We have these cute t-shirts, little tank-top titty shirts, and one of the female officers put one on and was dancing around. I said to one of the agents at the door, 'I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but that doesn't seem to be very professional.' And he said, 'It's been a long day. We're just trying to have some fun.'"
The t-shirt has vanished, the manager said. "It's not here. She took it."
After last week's threats from prosecutors in Sacramento, it now appears that the feds are backing up those threats with actions. The medical marijuana wars are heating up again.
If convicted of the charges they face, the suspects could face no less than 10 years and not more than life in prison and a fine up to $4 million.

It's escalating but I wonder what the end game is. It feels like Med MJ is moving forward at a speed unstopable. So could they be ramping up efforts to gain future control from the initial pioneers of the industry. IDK but something is brewing thats for sure

Hoping is going to accomplish NOTHING. If this issue is important to you, DO something. Make a donation to MAPS, write a letter, sign a petition, SOMETHING. Wishing alone never made anything happen. Its time to bring back the 60's protests. In fact we're WAY overdue.

Really? What are YOU going to do?
-------------------- “In politics, few talents are as richly rewarded as the ability to convince parasites that they are victims. Welfare states on both sides of the Atlantic have discovered that largesse to losers does not reduce their hostility to society, but only increases it. Far from producing gratitude, generosity is seen as an admission of guilt, and the reparations as inadequate compensation for injustices – leading to worsening behavior by the recipients.

We're definitely trending towards legalization... and they're snatching up what they can before Nov 2012 rolls around. Man, it's going to be an epic showdown when states start to legalize.
