Dubstep, .......the devils music * 1
    #15166382 - 10/02/11 01:07 PM (1 year, 7 months ago)

Can ANY of you people please tell me what it is you find in this :rolleyes:music:rolleyes:. How can you find it even remotely appealing. Im not trying to be mean, im simply baffled at how anyone can like these "sounds". Im not sure what it is, maybe you do! What are you "feeling" when listening to it :strokebeard:.

It seriously makes zero sense to me whatsoever. Is it a rebellious thing? Are you guys in high school and just wanna be "different" than your parents or the general population? Whats causing this? I went for a walk with some friends, who decided to bust out the Ipod and portable speaker. Excited to see what they would play, they started to blast dubstep

I couldnt help but feel pity and semi embarrassment over this action. Dubstep and nature? I felt deep embarrassment when people would walk by us....knowing in full the amount of judgement that was taking place (as I was feeling the same way towards my friends).

Its not music, its a random collection of sounds, sometimes very similar sounds. I makes you feel fucking weird, hollow, and empty.

.....look im mad at lady Gaga too, but Im not going to derail my sense of taste and opt out of the mainstream for a shitty style of music

But thats the thing. If it was a different taste in "Music" i would be fine with that. My confusion comes into play because its not music. Its sounds, weird sounds that make no sense whatsoever.

It cant just be the high school thing :strokebeard: My friends are in their 20's. Maybe its an attempt for people to cling to their youth? Do any 30 yr olds listen to dubstep?

What? Are you saying electronic music is not music?

What music do you like, and why do you like it? Who's to say that the music you like is any better than the music we like...? It is what it is, we like the way it sounds. I don't like any one type of music, I like all music...including country. Some things just don't appeal to me, for instance Ska, shit like streetlight manifesto for w/e reason doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I like dubstep a lot, but I can agree with you that a lot of the dubstep out there is garbage...as is with every type of music. To each their own I guess, different strokes for different folks.

P.S anything can be music, just cause YOU don't classify it as music does not make it as such.

Yeah seriously, if you think dubstep sounds weird, you really have to hear more music.

Try some obscure King Crimson records like Thrakattak and come back to me.

It is music, even though a lot of it sucks. And people should be able to listen to it if they like without being judged. Plus you would have to experience the bass live or with really good speakers to understand a lot of it. I only like a select few dubstep artists including Bassnectar. Tell me this isn't music.

Yay another dubstep hate thread, you're just an old fogey who cant stick with the times!!!
But anyway,
I could argue that the sound of you typing is music.
Dubstep has structure and a beat. Granted the glitchy screechy dubstep of today has changed a lot from its true reggae DUB roots, I still find it listenable.
Dont like it? Make something better.

Its just horrible to see the direction music is taking .....back with the start of our western music, the Catholic church had its roots deep in our musical system. Often using chants much in the same ways a shaman would use a drum (allowing high consciousness and a deeper connection with god)

As we moved away from a spiritual use of music we started towards music having to do with every day life. Used to invoke joy and different emotions by building tension and release.

......Dubstep represents the polar opposite of what music once was, and where its heading. A random collision of sounds providing nothing really enjoyable or useful. Just a feeling of awkwardness as the train wreck hits your ears.

I simply wanna know if people really like this stuff. If they are really passionate about this crap. Im not a big country fan, but its still music. Im not a huge trance fan, but even that is still music.

I think it's funny that a psychedelic user like yourself can be so close-minded, ESPECIALLY when it comes to music.

You need to grow up man.

Guys im not trying to disrespect anyone. THis is simply in the name of science. Im trying to keep myself open, and not feeling like an old man. I wanna relate to people but when they enjoy dubstep, its like trying to relate to a pedophile  :tinfoil:

ethno music is purely subjective, if someone likes dubstep than they LIKE it, it sounds good to them. You can't (and i dont even understand why you would want to) convince them otherwise.

just listen to your shit and let other people listen to theirs, :awehigh:

So after listening to the whole song, I can say that this is closer to music but still missing the bar. Whatever flow was accomplished is being inturreupted with various random noises....noises that have no place or relation to the song whatsoever. Its a character theme that im learning makes dubstep "Dubstep".....and not in the category of musical arts.

Dubstep is easy to make in a studio as it's just sounds put to a beat, which is why acts like Skrillex, Borgore, and Excision are just garbage and most people call that shit Brostep. But the real dubstep fans know that LIVE dubstep is impressive and an experience that's pretty unique. The DJ is constantly composing the next phrase while still tweaking the pitches of the current phrase. They are musicians, let's stick you behind a DJ Kit and see how well you fair. It's not as simple as people think to make GOOD dubstep.
