Those things grow all over the western side of this state. I once seen one almost as large as a bowling ball growing in a yard...
It's amazing how fast and large that those things can grow.

Watch out when checking out the puffballs. I found one earlier today on my way home from class and uprooted it. Thought I would see if it had been infested, and yep. It was completely full of larvae. Nasty Also found a couple Agaricus campestris growing in my driveway.

Maggots are just extra vitamins ;-)
But your right, gota look out for them.A good, healthy, fresh, white inside, puff ball does make a fine fry up though
