How much sleep should I get per night to gain muscle?

I'm starting to get insomnia again and when I used to have it really bad it would interfere with my muscle gains. I got maybe 6 hours last night, I had to lay in bed for a couple hours before I went to sleep. I also do heavy lifting - power cleans, squats, deadlifts, bench, etc. Do you think 6 hours a night is enough to build muscle?

6 is pretty low imo. Protein synthesis is higher when you're sleeping. I recommend at least 8 (and if this isn't possible take a nap after your post workout meal).

This man slept 11 hours a night as part of his muscle building program. It shows...
I usually sleep 6-8 hours, but If I do some heavy lifting or exercise I try to get 8-10. I need more sleep to feel rested and recover faster.
Sleep is very important for sure, but with so much shit to do in a day its hard to get enough.

This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.
Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."

It's more the depth of your sleep than the hours. Try to get lots of deep sleep, melatonin sometimes works.

If you fail, don't look at it as you didn't succeed, look at it as you would a rock face you're trying to climb. Stand back, wayyyy back, and look at it and plot another path. If you can't find one, shuffle down the way a little, a little change of scenery or a view from a different angle may give you the insight you need.

and remember kids. REM cycles are 90 mins. SO always try to get those 90 min intervals in.
Not only is sleep helpful for recovery, but for lifting weight. You probably notice it but when you get little sleep your body cant lift as much and gets tired quicker.

Unless you take dark energy...then you're a MO-SHEEN! seriously though, Cyclin-GF, and or ZMA products are amazing for good sleep too.

Sleep is very important to me and I think modern society has done itself a great disservice by depriving itself of sleep in order to "boost production".
I try to sleep at least 6-8 hours at night AND get a 2-3 hour nap in during the day.
I wouldn't be able to sleep so much if I didn't smoke cannabis. I highly recommend against ANY caffeine usage at all. I think it's a terrible substance and heavily damages the body (decreases appetite, decreases perception of fatigue).
I feel like a human with different capabilities when I awaken. I can perform most any task significantly better if I'm well rested, whether it be playing guitar, lifting, running, anything.

As much as you need. Everyone is different.
I find that 7 hrs 30 is perfect for me... if only I had the time to do it regularly!
