I live by a really cool venue...

Seriously. The Varsity in Baton Rouge is one of the best venues I've ever lived by. Baton Rouge is not a huge city, but there is this small venue that has this ability to draw in big acts for small crowds. The shows are rarely if ever on jambase, and sell out crowd is about 300 people...

Here are the bands I've seen in the last year at this venue...

Pretty Lights
Pantyraid
Mim0sa, TWICE!
Yonder Mountain String Band
Matisyahu


Now they are booking for the next month...

Galactic
and Umphreys Mcgee 3 days later.


I am way too lucky to be near such a small venue, its such an awesome intimate setting to see some of my favorite artists.

Yonder Moutain SB is amazing!! True artists at heart. Have you ever heard of the Yonder Mountain String Band's Harvest Festival? I am so stoked!! Plus I always rely on my free ticket when I volunteer for the WET Volunteer program... it really can't get any better :smile:

every where. My dad was in the navy so ive been all up and down the east coast. Most time I spent in one place was 8 years in jacksonville, FL. I went to school in Shepherdstown, WV. (which is probably the most hippy town in the US) I played in a band there for 4 years now Im in beech island south carolina. its nice here but not much for job opportunities. Im just interested in being close to new orleans or in new orleans.

New Orleans is one of my favorite places on earth.
