Cop Facing Drug Charges Fled to Brazil: Feds
The Boynton Beach cop who went on the run days before was to head to trial on drug charges likely fled to Brazil, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida said Wednesday.
Officer David Britto boarded a flight from Miami to Brazil on Aug. 24, the same day he removed his ankle monitor and broke his 11 p.m. curfew, a motion filed Wednesday said.
U.S. Marshals spokesman Barry Golden said an arrest warrant was issued for the 28-year-old after he went missing while on paid administrative leave and out on $100,000 bond at his mother's home in Coral Springs.
Britto, Boynton Beach's 2010 "Officer of the Year," was arrested in July after authorities said he'd sold over 500 grams of methamphetamine between June 2009 and March 2011. He was scheduled to stand trial on federal drug charges next week.
Britto, who faces a life sentence if convicted, has pleaded not guilty. A status hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday, according to the motion.
In 2010, the four-year officer was instrumental in the arrest of 25 suspects in drug cases. Britto also saved a 2-year-old girl from drowning and identified a man who tried to gun down two street preachers. Copyright Associated Press / NBC Miami

A life sentence for selling 500 grams of meth, I would have fled too.

Well this story leaves me with mixed feelings.
Sucks he sold meth, as I live in the meth capital of the USA. So I see first hand what that drug does.
Still, Life in prison is a bullshit sentence. Fuck all drug criminal laws.
I don't care that he was a dirty cop. Alot are. I do like how after making him look like a demon they contrast that with some of his good deeds (except drug arrest IMO).

That kind of writing IMO, can show the conservatives that just because your a drug dealer or drug user that your not automatically void/bankrupt of good morals.
Hope this guy can lay low and never gets caught.

Meth doesn't "do" anything, it is inanimate. What you see is what people are doing in your city.
Also, fuck this guy, he arrests tons of people on drug charges and then he is selling under the table? I hope he burns in hell, fucking hypocrite pig.

I believe in Brazil if you knock a girl that is a legal resident of Brazil up and she has the baby, Brazil will refuse to extradite you. I learned this from watching the A&E special on the dude that kidnapped a kid cause his older brother owed him money and they ended up killing the kid, they made a movie about it. I'm sure some have heard of it, Alpha Dog. But the dude's girl was only pregnant and so they couldn't prove paternity and they shipped his ass back.

I would have ran also. If your life is fucking OVER. GONE. Would you rather spend the rest of it behind bars or try to flee. If anything i would have a gun on me and shoot myself at the last second before i were caught.
So this guy has saved lives... but is going to prison for the rest of his life if he is caught.
run run run!
