GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar is hosting a roundtable discussion on synthetic drugs with U.S. Drug Control Policy Director Gil Kerlikowske.
The meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday at Golden Valley City Hall will focus on efforts to curb abuse of synthetic drugs.
Klobuchar introduced legislation in March after a Minnesota teenager died and 10 other young people were hospitalized due to overdoses of the synthetic hallucinogen 2C-E during a party in Blaine. Her bill would ban 2C-E and eight similar designer drugs.
Controlling these drugs has been difficult. They're often marketed on the Internet as legal "research chemicals" and makers often tinker with the formulas to try to stay a step ahead of the law.
Klobuchar, a former prosecutor, sits on a crime subcommittee with jurisdiction over drug control policy.

Someone should tell these people that it wasn't 2c-e they overdosed on, it was a mislabeled batch of a DOx - something that easily could've been avoided were these chemicals legally regulated and not part of some free-for-all underground market (that will still exist with even less quality control once these chems become fully illegal).

Well it sure wasn't 2c-e whatever it was. I read a story on erowid about a guy who accidentally smoked 100mg thinking it was DMT. Granted, it fucked him up so bad he had to be on anti-psychotics for a while, but it didn't kill him.

Doesn't matter too much what it was, like Jellybean said it definitely wasn't 2C-E. It may be impossible to figure out what they took, but I deduced that it was 2C-B from the horrible effects.

They did tests, it came back Bromo. It kind of DOElS matter what it was....
Also 2C-B hardly has horrible effects, its like 2CE only MUCH less intense, can have higher dosages etc.

Yea, I still haven't found a case where 2C-E was the confirmed cause of overdose. No news article I read actually bothers to mention whether they tested the victims for what they ingested. And there's a lot of mislabeling and fucking up going on on the vendors side, so who knows what it could have been. And as mentioned above, there are cases of people ingesting up to 100mg of 2C-E and being okay.
