Rift the wow killer.

I started playing rift around 2 months ago i think it will be the mmo that can top World of warcraft. i mean just look at what you can do with the class setup.
Classes Each character chooses between four different callings: Warrior, Cleric, Rogue, or Mage. Each eventually gains access to nine (when counting the pvp soul each calling can get) different 'souls' from that calling, which have trees to which they can allocate a number of points gained each level. Rift's soul trees have two levels: branches, which are the specific abilities/bonuses that the player allocates the points to, and roots, which are the soul's base abilities that are unlocked as the player allocates a certain number of points into the branches. All races may become all classes. The soul system allows players to customize their characters to a high degree. The player chooses three souls from within their calling, and allocates earned points into talent trees for each soul. A player wishing to tank may select justicar for its defensive properties and ability to heal the group as it deals damage, sentinel to increase his healing capabilities, and shaman to increase his melee damage output (thus increasing the amount of damage-based healing and threat generation). A character may have both justicar and sentinel, but have more points allocated into sentinel than justicar, and then choose warden as the third soul for its burst damage and heal-over-time spells, to make the character more of a healer than a tank. Players may also keep up to five different soul configurations (called roles), which may be activated whenever the player is not in combat, meaning a player can switch from a healer to a damage dealer as the group needs. Because the player's abilities come from the points allocated in the soul trees, two roles that share no souls will literally have no abilities or bonuses in common with each other.

LMAO, just logged in to post this! And yah folks, RIFT is an awesome MMORPG. Been on 2 months as well! On Atrophinius server. Don't forget there are 2 factions, as well!

RIFT's 6mo b-day bash. DL the trial, then the game is only $10USD for collectors pack! $5 for standard! Monthly fees still incur, but what a great game! For $10 play for a month and enjoy! Exclamation point. At least you will have a registered full account. And after that, when you might want to play again, just re-up. Not to mention, TRION puts out updates literally every couple days (many in the 100's of megs), they really listen to their player base/forums.
send a /w to Darknes woot
pm me with your email ( not a scam, Im just a stoner gamer dude) and I will Ascend-a-Friend you for more benefits! plus I will get shit, too..lol woot! lets kill some hit and get some loot!

they'll go to SW:TOR, which is just like wow. the mmo world has been dead for several years. until something really good comes along people will just play wow. it's it's own culture really, separate from the rest of the mmo community. i'm a full loot pvp player so there aren't many games available to my playstyle.
darkfall 2 might be great, and games like firefall will be fun.

I wouldn't underestimate GW2 or SW:TOR either. They both have extreme hype.

I have been waiting for SWTOR for years now. Star wars galaxies was awesome till they fucked it up so everyone could be a jedi. Used to have to do a bunch of different shit from holocrons you find just to become force sensitive. Then you hadda do the padawan trials and yada yada.

Yea, I'm still a bit nervous that everyone will want to be a force-user/light-saber wielder and pvp will look like a glo-stick rave, but I'm also confident in bioware and mythic/ea to produce solid games with a deep story.
I'm going to try out the imperial agent to begin with. Longest range in the game + movable cover + orbital strikes? Way better than a trumped-up glo-stick.

The only thing that will "kill" WoW is Blizzard's next MMO.
WoW has been dead for a couple years now, but there's still what 13 million or someshit subscribers. They are milking it for all its worth. Until they drop the axe on it themselves, WoW will keep going.

Who can blame them, it's the ultimate profit model. It doesn't cost them nearly 15$/mo to run and maintain those servers, and with so many subscribers and with such success with their other franchises Diablo and Steam it's all the makings for success. They just need to make sure they don't mix their dev teams too much at this point, in my opinion.
Remember they booted the art director for D3 because of rainbows
