"This state is a state of not knowing; you really don't know what you are looking at. I may look at the clock on the wall for half an hour -- still I do not read the time. I don't know it is a clock. All there is inside is wonderment: "What is this that I am looking at?" Not that the question actually phrases itself like that in words: the whole of my being is like a single, big question mark. It is a state of wonder, of wondering, because I just do not know what I am looking at. The knowledge about it -- all that I have learned -- is held in the background unless there is a demand. It is in the 'declutched state'. If you ask the time, I will say "It's a quarter past three" or whatever -- it comes quickly like an arrow -- then I am back in the state of not knowing, of wonder." -U.G. Krishnamurti
That pretty much sums it up.

I'm saying that when you are passively taking information in, but not applying it, you are not focusing enough.

Applying it to what? For what purpose? Why is it essential that I apply the information I have received?

Applying it to your awareness. For the purpose of knowing what time it is. It isn't essential, unless you want to stop wondering what time it is every three seconds.

When the majority of people look at a clock, they see numbers, but do not see the concept of time. Similarly, even when they look at the number, they see it only in its relationship to what they are doing and what is going on around them - rather than its highly abstract and symbolic representations of our mind.
A state of not knowing, indeed.

Good stuff. All I know are abstractions. The amount of times I've just looked around and thought, "what the FUCK IS THIS shit"...

"Everything there is, and all that there is, is a Pattern of unspeakable proportion. The Pattern contains everything that is, completely fixed in succession, all the minimal particles interconnected in every way that is. Every way that is is not every conceivable way, because not everything that can be conceived is manifest in the pattern."
"THE Human, you, is a miniscule but essential part of that pattern. In it lies complete fulfillment. It will never become something it is not, but it will never need to be anything else." - Wiccan_Seeker

What it feels to be alive most of the time. Why am I witnessing any of this stuff? I find the whole thing rather bizarre.

I agree. That's why I was talking in the other thread why bliss doesn't really interest me. For me It's all about the unspeakable wonder that can never be summed up in words.

But surely you still enjoy this type of experiencing though?

I enjoy pleasure but I don't think it's the be all of life. And at the moment I'm unsure if bliss is anything other then pleasure. Correct me if I'm wrong though. I've often heard bliss is neither pleasure nor pain, but I can't really imagine that. I guess words are hard to describe these states.

There is certainly a bliss beyond pleasure or pain Like you say, words can't describe it, you can only exist as it

Is bliss permanent or impermanent? I find the problem with pleasure is it always has to leave too soon.

The bliss we can talk about with words is impermanent, the bliss of the wordless is permanent.
