First Garden;
    #14792812 - 07/19/11 04:46 PM (1 year, 10 months ago)

So, this is my first edible garden.  It's a bit overcrowded as I didn't expect such a high germination rate.  Last year I used this space to grow a few entheogens (it wasn't half as dense as this) for personal use.  There are two boxes.  The first box (first box meaning the first pictures) was planted about a month ahead of the second.

All of the tomato, zucchini, okra, and bean plants were started in individual seedling pots until they were big enough to be planted alone.  The herbs and other random veggies were just dumped in lines.

So far I've harvested a few zucchini, some beans, and lots of the herbs.

Here's a shot from the left side (tomatos and herbs are very visible in the box closest to the camera):

Two of my biggest zucchini plants (and one that is dying):

My herbs, and some kale in the left box (from left to right: basil, parsley, kale):

In the second box, (left to right: tomatoes, green pepper, okra, beans-- also, there are three zucchini plants at the bottom):

Here are a bunch of younger tomato plants (and some okra at the bottom right):

In a separate potter, this is a hawaiian baby woodrose baby:

He's in company of a morning glory plant:

Here's my second fully-grown morning glory (she has some heavenly blue seedlings started around the bottom.. couldn't get a clear pic!):

I have the same amount of entheogens as veggies planted out in the yard; however, they were planted in the gross clay-like earth here and haven't been doing so well.  I'll post pictures if they happen to make it.

Looking good. If you decide to thin out those herbs you can eat them while there tender.

Many thanks!

I've gotten a couple delicious zucchini and a few perfect tomatoes.  I've also been thinning out the herbs-slowly, but surely.

The okra are just settling in, as are the beans.  I'm excited to give them both a try.

Looking good indeed.

Try mulching your bed with grass clippings, straw, or leaf litter to help maintain moisture and water flow.

It should definitely cut down any need for watering, I dont think I've watered my garden since May and it has been close to 100F!

Nice little garden RP!   You should send me some of those red cultivator morning glory seeds.  I've got purple, dark and light blue, but no reds.

someone gave my mom a bag of seed and I just sat down to sort them and
there's several packs of the red morning glories Crimson Rambler and
Scarlet O'Hara

so far this bag is about 80% flower seeds
