Is this magic plz? Looks like Penis envy thx.

... psych!

These were all found in a Florida mixed hardwood and cypress swamp alongside a river a few days ago. Just moved to Florida and was eager to get out on a hunt so the shots aren't the greatest, but here we go.

This first one was growing straight up out of a big wood chip from a fallen tree. Cap was hairy with a big crater in the center of the cap. Gills were small and cream-colored.

This second must be a gilled bolete of some sort?

This guy had me confused because it hadn't opened up. I am out of my element down here!

This one I'm 99.9% sure is a chanterelle, but have never found one in the wild. If so I have a big patch growing across the street from me :dancer:

At first I just thought these were pennies, then little balls of crumpled paper. Then I saw they were growing from the ground   Any ideas?

This one I am also out of my league. Don't know where to start:

Is this just a really old bolete that sort of... molted? This one was fascinating because (though it's hard to tell here) it had a subcutaneous pink layer. Very cool.

This poor unidentified shroomy got attacked by aliens from outerspace... aliens with a very unpleasant fetid odor.

Here is one of my favorites of the day. Another one I've never seen growing from a volva/sac straight out the side of a rotting log. There is an old friend hiding in there as well. My Little Armored Friend has followed me since the beginning of my shroomy exploits.

This one was perplexing because the small ones (there were several not pictured) all had cup-like shapes to them. The giant one to the left however wanted to do his own thang.

And finally an ethereal iridescent fungi that seemed to glow. Very fragile looking and very beautiful. Sorry again for the poor camerawork  :facepalm3:

Hope you enjoyed my first Florida trek of many!

I don't recognize the first one, but xeromphalina is a species that are tiny, often on leafs and pine needles and have a depressed center on the cap like that, so i'm going with xeromphalina sp. for it

Are you sure about it being a gilled bolete. It looks like a lactarius species with the "milk" on the gills

He may be right, one book I have lists lentinellus conchleatus, as growing on sticks, with a deeply depressed pileus and conspicious upraised hairs, but there is no picture:shrug: I'll take another look at the supposed podophyllum rhodaxanthus(gilled bolete)I may have spoken too fast

:picard:you're right, when I blew up the pic, the texture of the gills is all wrong, it's cartilaginous, and there's that drop of latex:sad:no wonder they won't give me the badge....lactarius sp. indeed

It is ok  you can have the badge in my book, if you promise to blow up pics before ID

Thanks for your input everyone.

After research I believe the shaggy boletes (species 3 and 7) are the same and are Boletellus ananas. The description there is a dead ringer.

And yeah, that other small fuzzy cap with the depressed center is likely to be some sort of Gerronema, Chrysomphalina (my guess), or Xeromphalina like you said paducah.

Good call on the Lactarius... duh! I wasn't paying attention :facepalm3:

Slightly off-topic, but what is a good way to reduce/eliminate the 'glow' from white or pale mushrooms? Is it a lighting issue, a foggy/dirty lens issue?

Also, does anyone know what 5 and 6 are?

I'm thinking the red cup fungi may be Sarcoscypha

And actually likely Lentinus crinitus for number 1, thanks pussy.

It's a lighting issue. Avoid direct lighting(especially sun), and try to use diffused lighting, or even direct shade. Also, if your camera has macro mode(it will have a flower symbol somewhere), use it.

No problem, that species is very common around these parts. I've heard reports of it being used for medicinal purposes, though I'm not sure on the exact purpose. Most sites list it as inedible, but not toxic.

I have never seen anything like 5 before, did you pull one out of the mud?It definitely looks like a fungus of some sort.. lol

Are you sure 6 isn't an aged Lactarius Sp.? The gills appear to be slightly less crowded than usual, but this could be a result of the cap becoming depressed with age, as Lactirus sp. often do.

Edit: Nvm, timmit beat me to it.
