Distilled water and brf cakes

Well, sometimes even the ones that have been doing this for years make mistakes... lol
So I prepared 35 pf cakes using brf and distilled water, I was reading that distilled water lacks minerals that is required for mushroom development. I have a entire bag of composted horse manure that Ive leeched, dried and aged and plan on spawning these cakes to.
So if I use tap water to hydrate my bulk material and add gypsum and lime to it will this be a issue when it comes time to fruit?
Second question, will the jars colonize without the minerals?
I just inoculated them yesterday prior to reading a few comments from RR about distilled water not to be used for growing... Anyone else ever use distilled water for their spawn? and if so, did the spawn colonize?

all I've ever used is tap water which in my case is well water so I'd definately hydrate with tap water as for will your cakes colonize using distilled water they will,I've tried distilled water and havn't had any ill effects, wether I just got lucky or they picked up the added minerals from the sub I don't really know

Yea, I used distilled spring water from the store to make my BRF cakes... I realize your not making cakes but I haven't had any ill effects!

When it comes to using water to hydrate our grains or substrate, using distilled or tap should make no difference. The mycelium will obtain nutrients from the grain or bulk and still colonize and fruit just fine. The only difference I've found is when making spore syringes. If you make a syringe with tap water, sometimes the spores will germinate inside the syringe using the minerals in the tap water. Whereas, if you use distilled water in the syringe, it will keep the spores from germinating.

Due to the distillation process, water that's been distilled is brought down to almost a 00ppm (25-50ppms). I'd imagine that the distilled water's LACK of nutritional value would be so minute that it'll hardly be noticed at all. I would tend to believe that the BRF and vermiculite'll provide the necessary nutrients and minerals required for strong myce. growth.
Use tap water to hydrate your bulk sub. materials. I'd leave the lime out of the bulk sub. but would use the gypsum. In mushroom cultivation, I only use lime at .25 parts per 10 parts peat/verm. for PH control in casing layers and at one cup per 10 gallons of water to pasteurize wheat straw. Good Luck and post results of your progress.

I'm no expert butttt, I like to follow PF's advice and use natural water from a swamp, river, lake, or spring to add an extra source of organic nutrients to my cakes.

ive used distilled once, didnt see much of a difference either way.
tap water is cheaper.
buy distilled if your growing lots of weed and can't rely on sunlight to get the chlorine out of your water.

Distilled water doesn't 'want' to stay distilled/pure. It will absorb most of what it comes into contact with, almost like a solvent. It also lacks minerals. It's not a sure fail, but it's also not the best you can do. RR

Use a tote to make a reservoir. Put some bubble stones for a fish aquarium or a small water pump (I prefer both.) down into the water in the reservoir, place the lid back on, and turn them on. The movement of the water created by the device or devices is enough to dechlorinate the tap water within 24 hours, no sun.

I'll turn this post into a grow log I guess and a print give away since everything will be done at the end of the jolliest season of the year, November .
I lost some jars due to excess moisture but for the most part the majority of them are doing great. I will get some pictures up at the end of the spawn run.
