Constitution
    #14872801 - 08/04/11 05:02 PM (1 year, 10 months ago)

Do you think the government should follow the rules of the constitution?

Can we rely on hundred year old rule of law for the country?

I certainly believe the government has no right to interfer on a persons freedom. Who are they to tell anyone what to do with their lives obviously.

leave it at it is. You don't need a "council of 13."

Shit sounds as corny as the plot to starwars. What next, Samuel Jackson is gonna fight Obama with that stupid pink sword then Henry Kissenger zaps him?

The american constitution should remove the right to have a gun.

You murder rate would go way down AND you'll be less paranoid as a nation.

I am dead serious actually. You guys are the only country left with that right (or close too) and you guys haves the highest (by like a hundred times) murder rate in the world.

It doesnt take a genius to see it... The more handguns there are, the more accidents/murders there is going to be... If everybody has access  to a gun, any stupid kid can decide to go rob a bank. If was didn't have a gun, he would probably think twice about it...

Guns = more crime

Anyway... I'll be busy plowing through the shitstorm

the right to bear arms stems from the civilian population being able to defend against a tyrannous government. More guns does NOT equal more crime. If guns were taken out of the equation, you can replace them with (any weapon you want)....

Guns make it easier to kill people, however if you were going to murder someone, you'd do it whether you had a gun or not.

also, when guns become illegal, the only people with guns will be the criminals. That's what we want...arm the thieves, and keep the civilians defenseless. Not only that, but that allows government to have ABSOLUTE control of their population. A population that can't fight back is easily controlled.

I'm sure this is just the first of many attacks towards your retarded position on guns...but come on dude...if you don't honestly see the importance of keeping guns legal then...well then enjoy your life in canada!

I certainly believe the government has no right to interfer on a persons freedom. Who are they to tell anyone what to do with their lives obviously.

the government should and must follow the rules of the constitution. this is the way the nation has been created and must be preserved, if you think things are unjust or improper now, wait till you see what the government will do once it's boundaries have been removed. thats sailing on the road down towards dictatorship.

we can certainly rely on archaic and draconian 100 year old laws, due to the doctrines of statutory interpretation and judicial review. so basically, when a judge interprets the law, he in effect changes the law, and sets whats called a ' precedent ' , something that should be followed in similar situations. what this essentially means, is that the judicial arm of government interprets the constitution in recent cases, and ensures that the old archaic laws are brought into the modern era in terms of functionality, but still retaining the essence or spirit of what was intended when the constitution was first created.

well , luckily the constitution tells them expressly where they can/cannot interfere with the lives of citizens. there is a wealth of discussion on the topics of the rule of law and personal freedoms/liberty.

i think people should be free to engage in any conduct that they choose, as long as it causes no harm or injustice to anyone else.

but all of this talk of government this government that, people have to realise that in the west we have some of the best living conditions in the world, literally. we have it good in the west. we have more freedoms or equal freedoms to just about anywhere in the world. and yes drugs are illegal, and there are a few things that aren't perfect, but your living in some of the best conditions in the world comparitively, and should be thankful for it. see what life is like in south east asia or south africa and compare.

you need to remove the gun related deaths related to self defense in your estimation

and if im a killer of course im going to pick a gun 9x outa 10
why would i make more work for myself
but if there not available im sure i can find some other weapon

and for our murder rate-maybe Americans are just violent mofos

and one other reason

there was a Japanese admiral(forgot is name)
that claimed it would be suicide to invade the mainland u.s because every blade of grass would hide a rifle

as Americans we accept the cost that come with being able to defend ourselves

Now would be the perfect time for citizens to defend against the government. Nobody does it.

Which are all less lethal and dangerous

It is better to let the robber take what he want without confronting him and let the cops handle the chase. Startling a thief thats has a gun by pointing a gun at him creates a "its me or you" situation, which pretty guarantees an injury or death.

Also, quit being so paranoid

Will do.

Strange that no other industrialized nation find a pupose to guns being legal

It isnt hard really. Lets see it this way, put fireplaces in more houses and you will have more house fires.

I would rather die on my feet than serve on my knees.

You really think the police do a good job? Yea right. Call the cops and say "oh my god some guy just robbed me at gunpoint, here is a shitty description of what he looks like...NOW GO GET HIM!"

YA RIGHT!! I will solve the problem myself. If someone tries to rob me and I have a gun I'm gonna shoot them in the face. That's the point. This guy is going to rob me, and many others...COUNTLESS others if no one has a gun to stop him.
