.bloodworm 2011. (update: 12-30-11)
    #14824615 - 07/25/11 10:55 PM (1 year, 9 months ago)

went out today after 2 good thunderstorms over the past 2 days.
since i moved, i've been exploring new territory.
i was in swampland the majority of the time today.
got myself a little exposed at times to the point where i was definitely fearing gators.
i moved to a very healthy mushroom environment.
there is a lot to be discovered and explored.
tomorrow i might hit the field or stay in the woods.
i saw a ton of myc. growth today.
i'll take some habitat shots tomorrow.

pics. :crazy2:

he may mean the jelly. Looks like you have some real mycology going on there my friend. I'm kinda glad I dont live in an environment where I need to worry bout being eaten. :O haha I was stalked once by a huge cat but thats about as far as that goes. More trouble comes from bow hunters/property owners freaking out.

yes, it's quite the habitat.
can't wait to share some more pics tomorrow.
supposed to get more thunderstorms.
i'd like to see what pops up given the chance to dry out a bit.
but, i won't complain. i love the rain.

yeh man. hunting in fl can get pretty serious at times.
lots of rednecks with guns and animals that can and will kill you.
i walked through a web today and had a brown recluse climbing up my shirt that i had to quickly knock off.
at one point today i got myself into a pretty sticky situation, as it was getting dark and i was totally exposed in the swamplands of gainesville.
fun nonetheless.

i'm going to keep updating this thread every other day or so.

jesus man, becareful. We dont have anything particularly dangerous cept the forest itself if you're not careful. I come across giant orbs somethings, when I'm crawling threw blackberry thickets and they certainly surprise the hell out of me, esp cause you dont really see them till they are quite literally on your face.

Not harmful or malicious really, they are just intimidating. They spin an amazing web of which is super strong and sticks to your face like it was meant to.

Humans are what I fear, as sometimes I trespass and go guerrilla hunting, been chased wit a chainsaw once, and tracked by bow hunters before. Exhilarating, stupid and dangerous. Ill advised. Not to mention illegal. 'Its easier to ask for forgiveness then it is for permission'. I usually share my bounty with most anyone that allows me on there land, and I suggest a similar philosophy for anyone in such a situation.

Man, littering sucks. I even always tend to the land that I tread upon illegally.

Well I kinda walked in on them, by appearances alone I wouldve guess they would be cool, but given the fact that some young wanker just stumbled on their land I dont think they were going to be too friendly heh. They chased me, I hid, and the noise of the saw kept getting closer and closer.

Yeah I always make an effort to leave the forest cleaner then before I came, its to their benefit to have me rummaging around their woods, but some people dont see it that way. I always dress in camo when I go guerrilla hunting, so getting shot is always something to keep in mind, esp when going out in hunting season. That kinda stuff happens all too often around here, esp when people are dress in bright orange. :/

Damn ... Now that's a story of the wrong place and time! For real, I can understand them wanting to scare a trespasser but I think they went a bit far.

When I become an old curmudgeon I'll be sure to turn the chainsaw off when I approach!

I've found most people in the South with lots of property usually have a wooded area to buildup junk and trash. I remember this one time I found a bunch of old, rusted cars with a push mower shoved into the driver window of the bottom one of the pile (and of course broken glass bottles and the like). I guess they got a forklift out there somehow ...

honestly it was no surprise, they probably didnt intend to hurt me or eat me or anything, possibly just thought I was stealing something. I mean who knows maybe theyve had problems with thieves in the past. Then again people are unpredictable its best to be safe and careful when breaking the law and trespassing. I'm much more sneaky now then those days, heh, when I travel threw foreign forests I leave no trace, its hard to track me nowadays. I move threw the woods silently. Which is kinda fun cause I startle up all kinds of wild life.

I usually wear brown or green when I go into the woods, but I have a feeling my situation is different from yours. And oh yeah people can be rather unpredictable. It's surprising how cool people can be though when you're honest and straight up with them (before actually entering on their land, that is ).

Also, I have a feeling I could be easily tracked by a trained eye as I'm inexperienced with minimizing evidence of my path.

hit the woods today for a brief moment.
i was exhausted so...
i didn't make it down to the swampland but still got some decent habitat pictures.
i'll eventually post more.
it rained again today and more is expected tomorrow.
i'd like to see everything have at least a day to dry out...
but i can't complain about the rain.
we need it desperately.
