but this census chose to differentiate between hispanic and non-hispanic whites in order to
record the white people who are not descendant from hispanic origin

And this is kids we talk about, not the whole population.

i'm white and am a minority where i live
my high school was about 80% hispanic, 16% white, 2% black, 1% asian, 1% other
the numbers are roughly the same in the community

I'm Brasilian, and I have been to Brasil before to visit family. I can definitely attest to there being quite a significant Asian population there, and beyond that. In fact, Sao Paolo looked exactly liked Manhattan in regards to racial diversity.

Middle Eastern-looking Brasilians

Jewish-looking Brasilians
except everyone was speaking Portuguese.
