Depends if you mean by state or government. Right now the governments even trying to stop medical marijuana so it really depends who takes over as president next year. State wise I think definitely in the next two years the people in the U.S. have some sense.

Hopefully it happens the next time it appears on the california ballot, prop 19 failing was a disappointment but I mean at 53.8% to 46.2% it certainly wasn't a total landslide and I'm sure just being on the ballot has raised a general awareness of the legalization movement.

I think trying to predict the future is usually a fools errand, especially in politics.
Also to me the arguement that "weh this generation gets older..." rings incredibly hollow. Don't you people realize that the CURRENT old people are the ones who were young during the 60s and 70s? The period of highest recorded use among high school students was in the 70s. These are the people who are currently ignoring the issue!
At least two of the brightest minds of the 70s didn't think i would take any more then 10 years, here we are almost 40 years later and the government in Canada tried introducing mandatory minimum sentences for any type of grow whatsoever like 2 years ago. It failed, but still, it shows how moronic and worthy of despise politicians are.

yeah but at least in the more "progressive" states marijuana is closer to being legal than it has been since the harry anslinger days, and I don't think it's unreasonable to attribute that at least in part to all of the aging baby boomer hippies out there.

I'm more optimistic. I say within 10 years or so. Of course, we have to get the Feds to decriminalize it as a first step.

Maybe weed will be legalized when Im 99 years old and then i suddenly quickly die before am able to buy some legalized stuff.
