The nhl isn't hard enough on the star players. If anyone less famous than chara had tried that they would have been seriously punished. The inconsistent enforcement is really obnoxious

I heard from the #habs on twitter that Pacioretty has been doing some light skating with the team, he should be okay soon.
But yes, that hit was terrible. Thank goodness Pacioretty is okay.

This hit was definately a late hit. Alot of the NHL analysts were defending Chara saying that you are always taught to finish your checks, but where have they been teaching players to take interference penalties on purpose in order to "finish their checks". Defenately should have been a suspension. Main reason being the extent of the injury to the Montreal player. Max Pacioretty is still out as a result of this, on those grounds, Chara deserved to miss at least a game or two. Had Pacioretty not been injured, nobody would even be talking about the hit. It would have been a 2 minute penalty and thats it, no media coverage. So there definately is an overreaction to the hit. Chara was not being malacious in my opinion. He was trying to force Pacioretty into the turnbuckle in an effot to cause pain (such is a custom in hockey), but he was definately not trying to seriously injure him. Hockey is a very emotional game, and accidents frequently happen.
If you really want to see some heinous crap, look up Todd Bertuzzi's sucker punch from behind on Steve Moore. This was at the end of a game while Moore was skating back to his bench. When Moore's head hit the ice, he broke his neck. I dont know how Bertuzzi is still allowed to play in the NHL. It also astounds me how everybody just pretends like that never happened. Todd Bertuzzi assaulted an unsuspecting player, broke his neck, and ended his career.

you don't ever target someone into a turn buckle in hockey that is just dumb disrespectful and grounds for a major
when you didn't have helmets and could fight nine times a game there were less fights and less dirty plays - reprecussions
you likely can't even skate

here ya go, same player chara hitting grabovski 2 times in the same game
this happened before the Pacioretty hit
bruins are gettin beat, chara got injured, so fuck em all

Com'on. With due respect to the Pacioretty hit, those two Grabovski hits are mild and happen 50 times a game...Its just knocking the player off of the puck. Grabovski is a sissy, look at the 2nd hit he is totally taking a dive there.
