Breakthrough DMT experience
    #14057079 - 03/02/11 11:07 PM (2 years, 2 months ago)

DMT Breakthrough Experience

Nothing in my life could have adequately prepared me for what I went through.  Only other, non-breakthrough DMT experiences come close, but drawing a comparison between the two is like trying to compare riding a bicycle to piloting a space shuttle.  My first confession will be that there are no appropriate words in the English language that can accurately describe it.  It has to be experienced first-hand.  What follows is a half-truth; the fictionalization of my trip is meant to convey what I can, how I can, but will always fall short.

After loading the DMT pipe, I sat cross-legged on my friend's reclining couch.  It was around 3:30 PM, and it was sunny outside.  The curtains were drawn, but with plenty of ambient light.  I had decided to use a black blindfold to help me keep my eyes shut.  About an hour and a half earlier, I had smoked a “veil dose” where I got lost in the pretty colors and patterns of the veil.  My intent, on this second dose was both verbally and mentally stated.  “I want to experience Birth” I said.  I had prayed on it for several days in advance, knowing that the DMT that floods a baby's brain at birth was an experience I never had, being a C-section birth (I read about this in Dr. Strassman's book).  I thought that mystically, I was missing something, and that having a DMT breakthrough would help create it in me.

My friend sat in a swivel chair near me, ready to take the pipe from me after I lost bodily control.  I also instructed him to remind me about my blindfold.  In retrospect, he performed these duties admirably, but failed in other important ones.  I must stress the importance of a DMT sitter being calm, cool, collected, and most of all, not laughing loudly at every question the user brings back with him.  This will become apparent later.

I held the pipe, and began the process of vaporizing the DMT.  Once I saw the cloud of smoke I started taking my breaths.  I carefully and meticulously took three large, ten-second hits.  After the second one, I began to feel the buzzing and vibrating emanations that I was very familiar with by now, and after the third hit, my friend took the pipe and told me to put my blindfold on, which I quickly managed before leaning back.  It had begun.

I immediately noticed the veil.  I experience it as always: beautiful, intricate, colored patterns (this time mostly black and green) fractally dancing and inverting themselves.  I struggled with some breathing, losing track of my body.  I had one last, final thought, “I am still me.  I see the veil.  I want to go farther.”  My conscious will pushed me through it and was destroyed by it.

After that, there is a chaotic time period, marked mainly by utter terror and separation.  I lost my body.  I lost my consciousness.  Layer after layer was peeled back until there was nothing left.  I remember an orb of black/white light.  I later interpreted this as the correspondence point: the space and time with no space or time.  It is everywhere and at all times.  I perceived myself “touching it” and because of this, I feel that I drew some aspect of it onto myself.  There was a moment of even greater terror, where I felt as though I had violated some ancient law.  Almost immediately and violently I was shoved out of the space.

At this point I regained control of my body, and decided to remove my blindfold.  It was a huge mistake.  As I tore what I believed was some kind of Ouroboros/Taurus from my crown, I began to reject the reality I was in.  I felt out of place.  I hated the body I was given.  I cursed it and refused to stay in it.  I started saying “please am make stop it” (later on the audio tape, it turns out I spoke perfect English, repeating “Please stop”).  Looking at my friend, his smiling and laughing face was like a demon to me, tormenting me.

I felt as though I brought back too much “ectoplasm” with me, and my soul began trying to explode out of my face, predominantly as mucous, vomit, tears, and dripping from my ears (my sitter confirmed later that no actual fluids came out of me).  I saw green and black train-track fractals spew forth from me, and I continued to reject everything around me.  I thought if I could just throw up, I could escape from this body.

The process of being born a thousand times then began.  Or a million.  Or three.  Or infinite.  It doesn't matter.  Large numbers, small numbers, they both pale in comparison to the infinite.  The correspondence point had felt like the source of all birth-death-rebirth experiences, and to teach me a valuable lesson, the forceful re-entry to my body happened to be an infinite amount of times.

Like a nightmare, where you think you are awake, but then you wake up, only instead you have woken into a new nightmare (readers of “The Sandman” by Neil Gaiman may be familiar with the curse of “Eternal Waking” that the title character lays upon Alexander Burgess in the first issue).  It happened to me forever.  I woke up in my body.  I saw my demon-friend laugh.  I shut my eyes and died.  Then I awoke again, saying “please stop”.  I See my friend laugh and transform, and I curse my life and the world.  Die.  Be reborn.  Birth, death, rebirth.  An infinite number of times.

As the process faded and I slowly became more real, and less spirit, I began to adapt to my body.  I started talking, and my audio recordings would later provide great comfort to me.  I had lengthy conversations with my friend about what I felt had happened, the nature of life, death, and reincarnation, and why it is important not to laugh at your friend while he is having a breakthrough DMT experience!  Most notable I asked, “What is the word for something that is beautiful and terrifying?” and almost immediately answered myself with, “Mystical.”

I stood up, and we went outside.  His two dogs came up to me, and I pet them as they licked my hands.  They brought me sticks.  When I looked up into the beautiful blue sky, a hawk flew directly over me.  I breathed deep the air and knew my place in the world was ordained, necessary, and gorgeous.

Of my conclusions (which are legion) the most important I made were the ones regarding reincarnation.  I now do not believe in reincarnation.  I KNOW reincarnation.  I have been to the place where the souls are always traveling, back and forth from being to being, in an endless infinity that has beauty so powerful, it terrifies mortal man.  I knew that I had been there a million times already, and that I would go back a million more times (numbers, again, are rather meaningless here).  I explained that when I died, I would be reborn and re-experience my same lifetime again and again, with no memory, and no real passage of time, because each of our lives is timelessly being replayed.  I would also reincarnate into a new body, and this would continue infinitely, forever, as my spirit sought to continue knowing the universe directly.

The most important lesson I learned though, is the by the grace of GOD we don't remember this process.  In order to fully enjoy this life, knowing our past lives would greatly detriment us.  Having experienced the nightmare of direct, subsequent, and infinite rebirth in my visions, I have to conclude that I am overjoyed to know that my personal thoughts and ego will no longer exist (and that they were an illusion to begin with anyway).  Joyously I will forever be living this life, and never know it.  Joyously I will be reincarnated into every other living being, and indeed I already have been.  The infinite experience is awaiting us all, and has already occurred.

As I said in the beginning, everything I have described is merely half-true.  There are a thousand things I have left out.  There was just too much.  I could go on for pages about the correspondence point, or I could spend a month trying to use musical instruments to recreate the music I heard.  All of this is unnecessary though, because the conclusions and knowledge I have gained will directly benefit my life.  My personal and spiritual growth is continuing, and each day I feel more and more at ease with the natural processes of the universe.  There is only one, simple piece of advice I can give to anyone, and it is echoed in Shpongle's song “Divine Moments of Truth.”

Do DMT.

That is all.

Well written post. It was a pleasure to read about your experience, thank you for sharing it.
DMT is on pace to be in my near future for the first time, should be another month or so and it's go time. Really excited about that.

You won't be disappointed.  Its power and short action are an alluring advantage unique in the world of psychedelics.  The OP portrayed it beautifully.

I prefer the words:
Ignorance is bliss.

DMT shows to much. It shows you what it means to know more than you want to know, or should know.
I have done DMT.
I have also combined DMT with 10x Salvia Divinorum.
I am never doing either again.
I don't want to go back to that state, ever.
I wish I could unlearn what I have learnt.
Ignorance is bliss.

DMT is like the one ring. It has potential beyond belief, but no mortal man can stay sane under it's power.

One psychedelic to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

Thanks for sharing that sounds like quite the experience.  I've never had a dmt trip that intense. How many times did it take before you were able to breakthrough? I've tried it 4 times now and only the first time I came close, I'm not sure if it was considered a breakthrough or not. The most shocking part of to me, was the uncanny sense that I had been there before. The dmt space felt strangely way too familiar and I was telling myself "oh I know this place I'm here again"  yet could not remember or conceive how it was that I felt like I "knew" the place or when I had been there previously. I'm still puzzled by it. It made me question things like reincarnation and the possibility that I knew it because that was what existence had been prior to being born. Also during that first experience I felt like I was an infant again and inside a womb. Feels weird man. Since then I've tried it three more times but none of these has been anywhere close to the first time and they have in fact been rather unpleasant and felt harsh/hostile since.

Great report dude.
I like how you included that nothing could of prepared you for what you saw. When I first took Salvia for the first time I thought I was ready, but I broke through and when I got there I was no where near ready. And
I completely understand what you mean about a place where time and space don't matter and it being everywhere at all times. I was placed into a similar state with my first Salvia trip.
I'm really keen to try DMT, my only problem is finding it.
