Raising Loph and Trich seedlings
    #14179521 - 03/25/11 01:49 AM (2 years, 2 months ago)

Hi there,

I've got 5 Lophophora williamsii seedlings growing now, ranging in age from 1 month to 9 months, and lots of Trichocereus seedlings, about 6 - 9 months old.

Im wondering what is the best way to keep raising these.

Im currently giving all of them 12 hours on the windowsill in indirect sunlight in the day, and then 12 hours at night without light, on the heat pad (which is about 20-25 degrees C). Is this ok for them? Or do they need a cool dark period during the night without the heat pad?? They seem to be doing fine.

What do you think?

So long as they're happily growing I wouldn't change a thing. The way you're growing yours now is the same way I grow my cactus seedlings but I don't use a heatpad.

Your night time temps are ok as well. They just need a dark period to be able to take up CO2 that they use for photosynthesis during the day.
