Obviously evolution has instilled most of us with a great fear of death to help us survive to reproduce. In that sense we are bound to be scared of death and it's not a matter of choice. Consciously we can still be unafraid of the concept of our deaths. I am not, however.

I'm not afraid of death, I look forward to it actually. Not in a depressing I hate life kind of way, but I dunno its kind of fascinating. What lives must come to an end, its an unavoidable stage of existence why should people fear it?

If you study NDEs it quickly becomes apparent that death is not the end (the common explanations about brain chemical release etc do not cut it). It's a non sequitur to say that just because energy cannot be destroyed that consciouness continues after the destruction of the pshyical brain.
I like the idea of the brain as a "reciever for consciouness" though. It has the unshakable ring of "truth" to it. With these matters you really have to go with gut instinct because we just don't know.
