first of all i wanna thank " mushroomhunter10 and Deva1 for inspiring me to start growing outdoors aswell.. Ive read to use the following mixtures : 2 40 lb bags of worm castings,2 small bails of straw"soaked for 24 hours,a reasonable amount of cow or horse manure,2 bags of verm. along with the 6 quart jars of colonized spawn, in my case "gt on wbs.. the mix is layered on top of a soaker hose to hydrate the inside of the bed.. water frequently and in three weeks, i should get fruits.. im gonna document the whole grow.. i just wanted to see if any experienced outdoor cube cultivators could tell me if im on the right track? i saw deva1 get great results for the tek i just explained, so im sure itll work.. but, im still curious on what others gotta say works for them.. any advice RR ?

is there still a big chance you can get contams out there? or do you just do that to be extra safe ?

when i make the cake indoors its just to ensure that nothing else grabs a hold of the substrate before the myc can
it also helps keep it under a high co2 environment that the myc needs to do its thing
once its at 100% i throw it outside
i lay down some additional manure
lay the cake on top
and then put some straw on the top to hold in moisture and give it a bit of shade
this is all in some brush that keeps the whole operation out of the direct sunlight
i water once every two days or so
when i go out there i have to lift up the straw to get to the mushies
ive read that the grow can continue for a long time outside if i keep adding manure and let the mushies drop their spores so subsequent generations can grab a hold and do their thing
lots of good information about outdoor grows using the search engine
there probably are other ways of doing it i just started doing it this way because i had a bin catch trich and then i put it outside and it recovered and i got some monster fruit
good luck !
