Physics (from Ancient Greek: φύσις physis "nature") is a natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through spacetime, as well as all related concepts, including energy and force. More broadly, it is the general analysis of nature, conducted in order to understand how the universe behaves.
Physics are something that have always intrigued me beyond concepts. So, I would like to start a thread sharing information about subjects many people may never on their own look into. Feel free to share anything you wish, backed up with pictures, videos, whatever.
To start with:
How Does Static Electricity Work?
Basic answer: Answer: Static electricity is an imbalance between positive and negative charges in an object.

All physical objects are made up of atoms.
Inside an atom are protons, electrons and neutrons. The protons are positively charged, the electrons are negatively charged, and the neutrons are neutral.
Therefore, all things are made up of charges. Opposite charges attract each other (negative to positive). Like charges repel each other (positive to positive or negative to negative). Most of the time positive and negative charges are balanced in an object, which makes that object neutral.
As mentioned earlier, static electricity is caused by an imbalance between negative and positive charges in an object. These charges can build up on the surface of an object until they find a way to be released or discharged. One way to discharge them is through a circuit. The static electricity charge on your body can be enough to light a low current bulb.
The rubbing of certain materials against one another can transfer negative charges, or electrons. For example, if you rub your shoe on the carpet, your body collects extra electrons. The electrons cling to your body until they can be released. As you reach and touch your furry friend, you get a shock. Don't worry, it is only the surplus electrons being released from you to your unsuspecting pet.
And what about that "hair raising" experience? As you remove your hat, electrons are transferred from hat to hair, creating that interesting hairdo! Remember, objects with the same charge repel each other. Because they have the same charge, your hair will stand on end. Your hairs are simply trying to get as far away from each other as possible!
When you rub a balloon against your clothes and it sticks to the wall, you are adding a surplus of electrons (negative charges) to the surface of the balloon. The wall is now more positively charged than the balloon. As the two come in contact, the balloon will stick because of the rule that opposites attract (positive to negative). And thats how static electricity works. Now can you think of an interesting static electricity science fair project?

Thats what we can see electricity does, and thats the actions we assign to it based on our perceptions, thats not why it works 
Its weird how something so fundamentally homogeneous as matter turns into this spectacularly complex thing called the universe as it progresses through what we humans perceive and call time in the beginning as far as we know everything was hydrogen and completely of its own accord it went through these series of self regulated changes to produce everything around us. Physics is mindblowing.

Can I profit in anyway from that?
I know I can profit from biochemistry and genetics and all that but whats the use of 11 magical dimensions that I could only pretend to understand while on acid?

Well, if you can understand the math, then you might be able to get government grants to work with a particle accelerator and smash atoms all day.

I think the main idea behind string theory is that things like electrons are actually one dimensional "strings". There are a bunch of different string theories, and M-theory is an attempt to unite them. Though, I'm a physics drop out, so what the fuck do I know?

Yeah I get that but I mean whats the point?
If I do biochemistry etc I can engineer E.coli to produce biofuels or drugs and so on, stuff that affects the average man. Stuff that are marketable.
The only good thing about the atom smashing bit is the creation of a particle, 100,000,000 heavier than a gold atom, that will suck the entire Earth thanx to its monstrous gravity field

Nothing whatsoever. There is no practical value to string theory at all. Perhaps one day they will find something useful about it, but for now the debate about how many dimensions there are is about equivalent to the medieval debates about how many angels can stand on the head of a pin.
