Sweet, it really looks great man! You obviously put a lot of work into this. It's sure a step up from the old site, eh?
The background's a little busy, but it's fun. Combined with the transparency it makes things slightly difficult to read though. I'd probably dial back on the that a bit, or more specifically, I wouldn't use transparency at all on the text itself - only on the container. Eg. before, after. One annoying thing about that is you'd have to ditch the CSS opacity property; it's always inherited by child elements (ie. the text) and there's no way to clear it. So instead, you might consider specifying a semi-transparent PNG as the container's background image (that's how I did it in the mockup).
That's just my own two cents though and it's pretty nit-picky. Overall I think you did a really good job. I'd be proud to have that site representing my fest.
P.S. there's a typo in the latest headline, it should be "welcome to our soft launch".

It looks like the sight is off to a good start!
I'm subscribed to your RSS feed, I'm looking forward to seeing this progress.

Thank's for the advise! We've fixed everything and are working on the opacity issue (not sure what we're going to do yet) so we're almost ready to do a full fledged launch!
We're just now working on the last of the write ups and graphics

Hey man site looks good. I did notice that the dates of the festival aren't easily visible. Just thought I'd let you know. I'm pumped for the festival!

I like your site but the background is too harsh.
-------------------- “In politics, few talents are as richly rewarded as the ability to convince parasites that they are victims. Welfare states on both sides of the Atlantic have discovered that largesse to losers does not reduce their hostility to society, but only increases it. Far from producing gratitude, generosity is seen as an admission of guilt, and the reparations as inadequate compensation for injustices – leading to worsening behavior by the recipients.

Thanks for that folks, we'll work on making the dates more obvious this weekend. I think as to the background we're just going to remove opacity for the time being.
Keep it coming guys, the more feedback the better!

Agreed. The background is def. over the top. The rest of the site looks nice.

Looks great T-ride. The new background is awesome, makes the site very readable. Good job.
Three minor suggestions: Add a new link for pictures from past events. Like the ones that were in your previous background, but not in collage form, similar to what you have on the Telluride Institute page.
May be just me, but I like when links to your own site open in the same tab, as they are now, and links that go off site to open in a new tab.
Upon clicking on 'Forums' you are presented with links to your forum here and also our main site, which is great. You may want add text indicating that in order to reply and make new posts a short free registration is required and also include a link to the 'New Account' form.
That's all. Lookin' good. Looks like you are ready to go.

Thanks, veggie. We'll work on the forums page suggestions later in the week. We're working on images but the back end for something like that can be HUGE.

Much better with the new background! I like it, great job!
Do you expect any serious money from the ads? I would remove them if not.
