Here's a novel thought... read what you want, don't read what you have no interest in... and leave everyone else the fuck alone.

What a concept.

Why don't you just hide their fuckin posts with the little icon in the post extras bar

I think people who are pricks should have a big red stop sign(or a red circle with a dash) stamped around their names or avatars... Then other people will stop taking that person seriously or just ignore them completely. I dont like labeling people or calling them out... but it's usually the only way to get someone to dis-continue their negative behavior. There could be some type of voting system for the people who have been here x amount of years, to narrow out the true trolls and a-holes from someone who was just having a bad day. If a person is here just to cause problems and be an asshole, they should be labeled as one. It is a way to single them out so they will either leave or change their behaviour.

I HATE for it to come down to this but there is not much else we can do.

Or, and I'm sure this has been mentioned before, just don't read what you don't like. Or, and I'd be willing to bet this was mentioned as well, put the person/s you find so offensive on ignore.

Of course that would involve personal responsibility. I guess we can't have that now, can we?

Nope. Let's have others do our thinking for us. Let's have others tell us what to read, what to think, what video games to play, what TV shows to watch and what to eat. Hell, let's have others tell us how to vote, how to dress, what jobs to have and what kind of cars they should drive.

What an amazing thought... allowing people to think for themselves.

You know who I think the pricks are?

What about a statistic to show how many times a user's posts have been blocked using that extra feature we just got down there, and then using that number to create something?

Personally, I wouldn't want what the RP wants (seems too complicated for what it is worth, and I don't mind the forums how they are) but my idea may be a good compromise to the RP's idea?

edit -- But then it would be easy for people to 'inflate' another members number.. scratch this post.

There would be plenty of diversity - you are going to an extreme. The only difference is that there would be a user rating system which would indicate the quality of people's post.

:picard:

You do realize that a rating system exactly like that already exists, right?
