San Pedro (Trichocereus bridgesii) - How Old Before It Has Mescaline

Just wondering how old this cactii should be before it has a good amount of mescaline. I read in an old post it's all to do with stressing the plant and age isn't a key factor. Would a 1 foot cacti have the same potency as 5 feet?
I'm just asking because I can only get new plants and can't get any cuttings at the moment. So would the new plant that's 1 foot be just as good as a 1 foot cutting?

By "new plant" I'm guessing this is a one foot seedling. If so I wouldn't think it would contain as much as say, a mature one foot cutting would but it will still have the alkaloids present. You may need to use more to get the desired effect is all.
As for stressing and what not it isn't needed if you have a mature cutting. The cactus already has these alkaloids present without stress and the stress theory hasn't been proven to be correct. All reports are from heresay and no reliable tests have been done to confirm this theory.

Just grow it out man. If you want a more beautiful experience, the best is to grow it yourself. Sure, you will get just as high off some cutting you bought, but it won't have the same spirit, even if this effect is pure placebo. Grow it out, even if you have a cutting. Get a couple of cacti, and grow them out, and hold a mesc party on 21/12/2012.

I agree. If you really wanted to try some now but still have a supply, you could cut both in half, eat the bottom half, and plant the top half.
