Traffic stop yields "Magic Mushrooms"
Beach Lake —
An investigation continues after a traffic stop Saturday night near Beach Lake, yielded almost a half pound of “Magic Mushrooms.” More properly known as psilocybin mushrooms, Trooper Winnberg said that the drugs have an approximate value of $800.
State Police made the traffic stop at approximately 9 p.m. on Butternut Flatts Road, Berlin Township. The driver, a Beach Lake area man, was stopped for a vehicle code violation. “Indicators were observed by the trooper at that time,” says the report. A consent search of the vehicle was granted by the driver.
Afterwards, the driver was taken by State Police to his home where he also turned over a small amount of marijuana as well as two smoking devices and what appeared to be some type of record-keeping ledger of possible sales of these drugs, Trooper Winnberg said.

There must be some sort of logic like,"If I just give it up to be searched, then they'll think I've nothing to hide so they will either 1) not go ahead with the search or 2) not do a thorough search".

Sure it may be a consent search but was probably a pressured request on behalf of the cops. Its not like they simply say "Can I search your car". More likely "You don't have anything to hide do you? So if I search the car I won't find anything illegal will I?"

I was going to say the exact same thing.
$800 for a 1/2 pound is pretty accurate, I'm surprised they got that right.

Yeah, I see that when watching Cops on tele. If the person says no then the cops start to believe the guy is hiding something and then they say they'll get a warrant.

Just say that you have some embarrassing things that belong to your girl friend you'd rather not have someone see, then ask if "am i being detained or am i free to go?"
