SWIM is going to be extracting DMT out of some mhrb in the coming weeks and was wondering what the fastest and most efficient tek for extraction would be. So far SWIM has a couple in mind but he's not really sure how to narrow it down. The available time he has for the whole thing is about a week.

Nature Boy's pictorial of what is pretty much Nomans Tek is probably the easiest and most straightforward tek and yields good with nice product, especially if you recrystallize.
You can go A/B, which adds a few steps and takes a bit more time, but if you choose to do this, I would use marsofolds tek with a CFC. I have seen good results with this as well.
BTW, I know you did not list these as your candidates but both of these teks I mentioned have long-going discussion that have already solved many problems over the period of their publication. I would look into these if you haven't.

hmmm so far normans tek seems the most straightforward and promising. SWIM thinks he will try Normans out for his first ever extraction.  SWIM thanks you for input and help. And if anyone else wants to post any extraction results or yields from their tek of choice then please be my guest.

oh and another question came to mind... What kind of yields can be expected from a stb (Normans tek) extraction of 112g of mhrb. SWIM is going to assume its just average quality since he doesnt know. And if he did all of his mhrb (224g) then he would just double the expected yield correct?

Thanks for posting this psyco - after reading this last night, I bought a pound of powdered MH root last night and some lye. I need to find naphtha now though, Ill check the hardware store later.
I had no clue it was so easy to extract it.

I used the Q21 tek sucessfully a few times after failing on a couple STB's where i ended up with red naphtha, it was too sticky & the DMT would not precip out in the freezer, then i lost the DMT trying to clean it up.
Q21's vinegar/lime/naphtha tek is very very easy & will yield 1% of pure white spice after 3/4 pulls
If you choose to re-X it will be very easy as the spice will already be very pure
It's also much friendlier & i felt better vibes while doing the extraction, just make sure you have a quality solvent & freeze precip the spice out the first time

wow! beautiful crystals chronic!.... On another note does anyone have a suggestion for where to find lye or more preferably d-limonene (lime powder)in a store?

Well, my MHRB showed up today along with the lye. Ill be choosing a tek in a minute, and Ill be taking pictures and posting in this thread, within the next 24 hours or so.
Anyone recommend a specific tek? I have a hot plate stirrer I will be using for the initial base and soaking, to keep it moving and the temp slightly higher. I have a bunch of glass ware, like sep. funnels and flasks, and the likes. Ill be using that funnels for separating to make it a little easier.
Any recommendations on one of those listed above?

I couldnt hold back and went for simplicity since this is my first extraction. I am going to let it sit for another 1.5 hours in the base solution, and then add the naphtha and stir on the hot plate/stirrer for 30 - 40 minutes like lazyman's tek said.
Then I'll decant and evap and post a pic of what I got.

ok... im getting excited. the jug went from hot to the touch to just really warm. The hour has elapsed, but I might give it 30 extra minutes for the sake of it.
I should have pictures up in about an hour, to 1.5 hours...

well I may have something not typical... there are chunks of MHRB power on the sides... some have started slide back down in to the slurry... but it looks more like one tarry liquid than anything...
Any one know what this might be? I have a hunch for it be an emulsion, but I don't know. this is kinda my first time at this...
If that is in fact what an emulsion is, how do I get better separation and re-liquify? I have some seperation (naptha layer) but not what I should I think.
