 Psychedelic society

I often wonder what it would be like to live in a psychedelic society. What do you think would happen if one large state was cleared out and re-inhabited only by people who embraced the use of psychedelic substances and truly understood the many benefits of using these substances responsibly.
How do you think this place would compare to the rest of the world progress wise? Give specific examples of one or more things in this place and contrast it against the rest of the world.

The idea seems wonderful in thought, but in action I believe it would have dire consequences and I'm speaking as someone who would be all for it. I could definitely see someone believing they're god-like/better than others from psychedelic abuse (since you know there'd be that ONE GUY who overdoes it) and would end up trying to take over whatever form of ruling the place had, or would try something else outlandish.
I love the idea, but think something would happen sooner or later that would taint the place.

I agree... Stuff would get crazy fast unless everyone was hip.
There would definitely be that person who was nuts to begin with and there would be people who would use the drugs as a scapegoat. Oh wait, isn't that what happened?

Advent of the psychedelic society, everyone's making music and dancing in the streets. Things are good, pure, and innocent for several years, then things become ominous, a cult murders some Hollywood types, and 30 years later they all buy Macbook Pros and some do Victoria's Secret commercials.

If everyone used responsibly, then i believe we would call such a place "Heaven".
I think as far as technology advancement and things of that nature, this new state would suffer as compared to the rest of the world due to the fact that the people in such a place would realize that all the material things around us are not necessary and that is where the least of our efforts should be placed in such a world of war, poverty, and distress.
I imagine lots of bartering, and sharing would take place.
I could fantasize about this for hours....

The general IQ of the population is too low for this kind of thing to work. Too many morons that aren't capable of chasing something greater than euphoria or sex. Refer to the 60's. Scientists used psychedelics and many legitimate people considered them an aid to humanity, but all of those dumbass sheeple used it as an excuse to act like animals.

this was my first thought, but when she stated everyone would use responsibly, it changes everything.
but yeah, if this were to take place in a real life setting, your right, it would never work out.

Agreed but that's why I said those people wouldn't be allowed in. If it were only legitimate people like you said, imagine how cool it would be. I know this would never happen it's a hypothetical situation I created for the sake of conversation that's all.
There are alot of legitimate people out there who could totally handle the situation responsibly. Take this community for instance, there are alot of highly advanced thinkers here who could thrive in a place where they were surrounded by other people like them. The whole place would thrive don't you think?
It would be a cool place to live.

There's an elitist attitude strewn all through this thread. Hypothetically, if some of you people were in this society, it could be accurately described as a cult, and a neighboring state would swiftly invade and burn your compound to the ground.
