Xbox 'Gold' should be standard
Microsoft are bastards. Sony and Nintendo respect the consumer enough to allow them access to multiplayer.
I can't help but feel that these companies are just trying to milk the consumer cow for all it's worth, especially how the Xbox360 goes straight to ads when you turn it on and you can't hide any of the ad channels.
I realize there are server costs, but wtf man? Sony and Nintendo externalized that somewhere, probably had enough profit for such a good capital investment to please their customers.

Microsoft just raised their fee 10$ not to long ago. I like how Sony's online is free but the PS3 is weaker than the Xbox. They have almost the same processors and video cards, but the PS3 has half the RAM as the Xbox.

Yes. All games use p2p (player 2 player) which means some random player 'hosts' that game which might make the games laggy and inconsistent and if the host leaves the game, unaware he was even the host, it'll close the game if it can't find another suitable host.

But goddammit Microsoft sucks harder than i thought was possible. 60$ for a new game, without everything in the game unlocked, you have to buy Microsoft Points, useless jip currency, and pay all this fucking extra to get everything on the already overly expensive game.

200-300$ is probably fair for either system. But 600? Are you shitting me? My core i5 (3.2ghz, dual) barbones setup that included 4 gigs of high-speed ram only cost me $450, and everything else can be recycled. Claiming one or the other is better is like trying to decide which donkey to ride. Halo Reach looks awesome. If you say otherwise you're a dumbass with no understanding of multisampling, antialiasing, texture resolution, etc. It's a marvel they're able to do it at all with such limited system resources. The same applies for quite a few PS3 games. Usually it comes down to decreasing the resolution, just like most PC gamers with midrange cards do. That's because that's exactly what game consoles are, a mid-to-low range budget solution for entertainment strictly.
Remember when your PS3 could run Linux? I do. Nice to pay for features that get removed later isn't it? Not that many are missing it, but I guess while it was available it made it too blatantly obvious you're paying for gimped hardware.
Bottom line = gamers are enjoying last-gen performance, and the only thing they gain is guaranteed (but highly limited) software compatability and the ability to play split-screen.
Microsoft should be charging for dedicated servers, but regardless what you're saying is complete bullshit. They lowered their prices recently. It used to be $60/yr, now it's $50/13mo. Or $8 for a single month.

first off nobody here is discussing computers.
next a ps3 costs $300 not $600, the reason it used to cost 600 for like the first year or two was because it had a bluray player, wifi, and a shitload of usb ports, not to mention the high end processor and design around it. And yes they removed linux, because they had to remove it in hopes that the console didn't get hacked which by the way if you had any idea what you were talking about you would realize the hardware wasn't gimped it was the software preventing linux to use all of the hardware. But they also add alot of features like 3d features for example.
again im not sure why you memntioned pc's, its like your trying to prove someone wrong about them...yet nobody's mentioned them so its very weird, just about everyone knows pc's are superior. Altho it doesn't really matter anymore since they only get like 1 good game a year now. really it just sounds like your a 360 fanboy trying to be sneaky hiding behind a pc

I have to say there is no major differences.
Both the Xbox and the PS3 have their own awesome exclusive titles, Xbox has Halo, PS3 has Uncharted and so on. I wish every game would be multi-platform though.

Yes I agree a PC is way better gaming system than a console, I'm saving up for a sweet gaming computer right now.
