 My Homemade Vaporizer *pics*   1

started with a glass vase purchased at walmart for 2$.
cut the top off a harbor freight soldering iron 7$
pipe fitting, screw and pvc piping, 0$
glued the soldering iron in with gorilla glue, its pretty thick inside, used a screw to hold the pipe fitting to the end of the iron, after cutting about 2" off. still gotta drill a hole for the tube.
i can take more pics or provide additional info for anyone interested.
i have yet to use it, as the glue was curing overnight.
All finished, for the most part. needs a hose

The idea looks very good but have you actually used it?
As PVC can start to melt at as little temperatures as 80 " Celcius.
And the boiling point of THC is around 150 " Celcius. Which more than likely means you are merely breathing in plactics. And very little THC.
Or is the plastic which is in contact with the soldering iron different to the piping / casing?
My comment is based on temperatures from the internet on various sources. And as iam only in A level chem/bio i could be completely wrong. But just do some research before taking a lungful of has the potential to be harmful vapour.

couple conserns about your post.
you mentioned that the pvc will melt, im not sure how, when the orange handle is the only part touching the pvc, and the entire orange handle is cool to the touch while the iron is on. therefor, the only way the pvc will melt is from residual heat from within the bulb.
my fear is the glass shattering under the heat.

Stink. I just though the overall temperature in the glass bowl would get to hot. Plus I didn't thing that was the hand but just something to stop the iron from moving.

am i the only one who thinks that looks like a modded fleshlight?
the only other thing is i believe pvc puts off toxic chemicals as it heats up altho im not 100% sure about that

Getting to the chopper

I've used a lightbulb (attached to a dimmer switch) as a heating element, and a large glass cup to cover the whole shebang. To put in the herbs, I take a bit of foil, and make a tray using a shotglass to shape it.
Alternatively, you can make a really ghetto one which involves a hollowed out lightbulb and a lighter to operate. Takes some skill, but works well

I wonder if you could make a sweet vaporizer from a modified easy bake oven...

Don't worry about the glass shattering or the PVC melting from the heat: the vapor isn't hot enough to cause this.
If you think about it, the vapor is cooler than smoke.
