So one of my good friend posted something about God on facebook.
I was messing around and i posted a comment saying: "****SPOILER ALERT***** GOD IS FAKE!" I thought it was funny
Then immediately, a gang of Christians team up on me. Here's the conversation:
girl 1: I'd rather live like there is a God and die and find out there isn't then live like there isn't a God and die and found out there is.
me: If you die you can't "find out there isn't a God" You just die. End of story.
girl 2: I feel sorry for you Connor, since you obviously do not know what you are talking about.
me: Oh, Excuse me for not believing in an God i never see. Or a God that says i'm allowed to sell my daughter as a sex slave. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT) OR a God that sent two bears to maul children to death because they called a man "baldy" (2 Kings 2:23-24) Would you like me to go on?
girl 1: Connor, You've obviously misinterpreted the bible bc CLEARLY you do not read it often. If you're gonna read the bible why don't you read one of the hundreds of miracles Jesus has performed. I have nothing else to say to you but i'm gonna pray for you.
Me: I don't understand how you can "misinterpret" that, its black and white. And I actually attended catholic school and went to church twice a week. I'm sorry, but i refuse to believe in such a thing. Please don't waste your time praying for me and do something productive instead.
girl 3: Connor...both of those are books in the Old Testament first of all....secondly, any passage of text can be misconstrued if taken out of context.
girl 1: You're right Jacqueline. Maybe he should read the NEW testament.
I gave up after that. I realized there's no point. I'm sorry but do Christians just ignore all of the Old Testament? It's still the freaking bible. It still says what it says.

Ha. Why don't you find some horrible passages in the New Testament for them?
Just face it. You can't prove there isn't a God any more than they can prove that there is one. C'est la vie.

True. True.

I couldn't agree more.
There is this chick in my class that I did once and she says that premarital sex is bad. But then again she is not quite certain of why it is bad but because christianity says so then it must be bad.

Christians still believe the old testament is 100% true and the word of god and since Jesus was Jewish so did he..

My view on stupid people who are religious: They need to be religious. For all of our sakes. They are too stupid to attain good morals otherwise. If they didn't have any morals then society wouldn't function. Maybe this isn't as true now as it used to be.

I hear that one alot, the claim that the new testament pretty much negates the old testament, that all those rules have changed... I find that great because that means that it's now OK to kill, steal, screw your neighbors wife, worship all the gods you want and you can still get into heaven. the new testament is a great book that we should live our lives, because the 10 commandments are old testament, they're dead laws because the christians said so

Yes, Jesus would definitely facepalm at most Christians today. Especially those of us in the West.
Good thing he doesn't expect us to be perfect and forgives us when we're not.

This is precisely the reason I stopped believing in God--I realized that since I believed in him just in case, my belief was not genuine.
I have never genuinely believed in God.

Well, not necessarily religion per se, but some sort of mythology. Usually keeping the masses well-behaved without religion requires a strong state apparatus with its own collectivist mythos.
