No successful grows since May! Insanely frustrated...input appreciated

I'm about at my whit's end. I first started growing last year to great success; even on my first attempt I had 10/12 successfully colonized jars. I ended up moving in May to a new location, and ever since I haven't had ONE successful grow.
Here's the details:
First 3 attempts I had to throw them out because these damn gnats kept infesting the cakes. After the third attempt, I waited an extended period of time to make sure the gnats were gone for good. This current attempt I got about a nickel sized growth on two jars, and then the growth just halted and I never got any growth from the other jars. I attributed this to the fact that I wasn't keeping them in an incubator and the ambient temperature was too cold (never had this problem before, always just shoved them in a cabinet to colonize and they colonized great). A few days ago I decided to inject a little bit more spores in each jar, and put them in the incubator at 80 degrees. A "restart", if you will.
Still nothing. No contams, mycelial growth...nothing.
The only other factor I can think of is the fact that since I moved here I used coarse verm instead of the fine that I had always used previously. This shouldn't be an issue though from what I researched, and yes I adjusted the water ratio accordingly (I know it doesn't retain as much water as the fine stuff).
Any input? I haven't had anything since July and its KILLING me. Thanks!

Are you buying your spore solution online or making it yourself from prints?

Here's a tip for the gnats:
Punch an 1/8th inch hole into a 1/2 pint jar, fill it with beer/juice/wine or something sweet. They will fly in but won't be able to find the hole back out again. I've wiped out hundreds of gnats with these little contraptions. just my 2ยข
Best of luck

Are you using tap water? Maybe there are elements in the water of yoru new location inhibiting growth?

To address some of the issues...
1. I purchased them online like I always do...I could see the spores floating in the solution
2. Thanks for the gnat advice but I think they're finally gone. I tried the apple cider vinegar solution and that didn't work...they didn't seem to care for it. I just waited it out for them all to die off.
3. Why is it a bad idea to insert a little more solution in there? I didn't really give them that much the first time around...

Tap water filtered through a Brita system. So not really.

Have you considered using a different spawn/substrate?

You'll throw off the water content if you inject too much. And if you're reinoculating the same jars you originally knocked up, you'll just be adding another avenue for contamination. Less is more, trust me. It can literally take a small drop from a syringe to get a jar going.

Distilled water is just over a buck for a gallon jug but I dont think thats your problem. May have just gotten a bad syringe, maybe your moisture content is off since switching to the new verm? I'm thinking the latter but we dont have enough info to draw a real conclusion here. If you've got more spores I'd make up a new batch and let the old jars just sit.
