 Dark brown powder on fruiting body?? (Image attached)

hi, help needed.. does anyone know what could be the dark brown powdery things (red arrow) on the fruiting body? Can be seen on older ones more frequently. The other picture shows a more healty-looking antler.. thank you..

I can't see what it is from the picture. On conks if there is a layer of rust-colored dust up top it is (its own) spores. If it's blotchy as in the picture, I don't know what it could be.

thank u, Niwita, i saw that powdery things occurring on some fruiting bodies, but not some others. I'm just wondering if that's a sign of unhealthiness? The rusted-look that you mentioned is actually due to the spores? that's awesome.. the conks can get so fully covered by the "rust powder".

Are those outside? 'Cause it looky likea bird/bat poop - but can't really tell from the pic. Sporing is more like "spray painted" rust colored.

yes, they are in the wild.. but the powder seems to be excreted by the conks..

You got me then - I pick wild and have seen a poop on them, but never anything excreted from the top.
What about Alan Rockefeller or one of the TI's in the hunting forum? They see lotta outdoor examples?

Looks like some debris to me, Reishi spores are rusty brown, and they do accumulate on top of the shelf, but more in an even coat of "dust" These look young based on the thickness and color of the margin, so they are too young to sporeulate

Hard to tell from the pic but to me it looks like pieces of whatever substrate it's growing from. Possibly stuck to it as it grew out.

EITHER dirt from substrate, or bacterial splotch.
But it looks more defined/edgy than splotch, so i will go with sub.
