The point of life is to discover more of who you are.
Then what?
I don't think that there is a point to life. In my mind, that is a good thing. If you approach life like an endless quest, then you live it with your eye always to the goal. Gratification and fulfillment are carrots on a stick that you never quite reach. You end up filling the emptiness with empty promises for the future. The point of life is life. How you feel about that is your choice. Life if not disappointing or rewarding. It simply is. If you see life as something that needs to be fixed, then it will always need to be fixed, no matter how much fixing you do. If life is intolerable until you can get it fixed the way that you want, then it will always be intolerable. If you think that life is better with everyone considering that it is intolerable, then you have chosen a depressed world. You are caught up in the game of "good must win". But look at the symbol.

^That's a really good analysis of it. Buuut... one day, with that intelligence, you're going to find it's a play, and everything is fine.

Then more discovery, and more and more and more, ad infinitum. This statement assumes we are infinite beings in an infinite universe, so there isn't a fixed about of data to gather about one's self.

How is that more meaningful than taking a nice nap?

Plenty of time for napping when you're dead. It's your time here,do whatever you want with it but if you feel you're cutting yourself short then do whatever it is you want to do to stop that.

I think the better question is, Why does there have to be a point? All nature asks of us is to survive and reproduce. That's what we're designed for. Everything else is luxury. Spiritual missions and the pursuit of meaning and reason-- that's all stuff that comes with the thought process. Nothing more. Life is the best thing that ever happened to you. Embrace it

The problem is: everything else isn't luxury. Survival is itself a huge pain in the ass (food, shelter, keeping the body in shape, etc), not to mention the numerous higher-level problems which many of us encounter (social alienation, economic disadvantage, etc).
Life is the best thing that ever happened to you. It is also the worst. It is the ONLY thing which ever happened to you, or ever could, and thus there is no standard for comparison.
I think it was Camus who said there is only one serious philosophical question, and that is whether or not to kill oneself. From where I stand, the question is still wide open.

-------------------- "People convince themselves of their own lies, becoming victims of their own inventions as they begin to direct their lives by standards of behavior, ideas, feelings, or instincts which do not correspond to their inner reality. What is truly serious in this matter is that the individual loses all points of reference regarding what comprises truth, and what comprises lies. He becomes used to considering as true only that which is convenient for his personal interests; everything that is in opposition to his self-esteem or in conflict with already established prejudices, he considers false."

Fucking existentialists. What do you expect from a bunch of guys whose region just ripped itself to shreds over a powertripping psychopath? They were living in ruins. I'd write a series of books bitching about how pathetic life is, too.
