 spawning wbs to straw

is pressure on the top vital?
i've never done this before, but had a lot of fun pasteurising the straw and mixing it with the wbs. i packed it down, put foil over the top, made holes with a fork, and put a couple of heavyish objects on top. it's in the dark at about 74F, and i'm going away for a week.
anything i'm forgetting?

as long as you cut your straw up nice and small, the weight is not needed, if you pasteurized your straw uncut, then yes a weight is needed to keep it in a block!!
