Oregon State Police arrest three people after traffic stops yield drugs on board
Oregon State Police arrested a California man early Saturday morning after stopping him for traffic violations and finding 100 pounds of marijuana in his car.
Troopers based in the Roseburg area stopped Juan Carlos Rocha, 28, from Corning, Calif., as he drove north on Interstate 5 near milepost 145 south of Rice Hill. During the stop, police used a drug-detection dog, which zeroed in on the vehicle's exterior. At that point, Rocha fled on foot, police said, but was apprehended after a short chase.
28 0 0Share Troopers found about 100 pounds of marijuana in three large boxes in the rear compartment, worth about $250,000.
Rocha is being held in the Douglas County Jail for unlawful possession, manufacture and distribution of marijuana and a misdemeanor attempt to elude on foot, according to Oregon State Police. The sheriff's office jail website also notes an immigration hold on Rocha.
The arrest follows another drug-related arrest on Friday morning when an Oregon State Police troopers stopped a Dodge Durango with Washington plates for traffic violations.
In that incident, police stopped Arturo Cardenaz-Leal, 27, of Kennewick, Wash., and Sandra Maricela Escobar, 19, of Pasco, Wash., as they drove north on Interstate 5 near milepost 123.
Troopers arrested the two after finding a small amount of cocaine. After impounding the car, they found about a half-pound of cocaine.
Cardenaz-Leal and Escobar are being held in the Douglas County Jail for unlawful possession of a controlled substance - cocaine. Cardenaz-Leal also is listed with an immigration hold.

Why does it seem to me there is a certain amount of profiling in these 2 articles. Anyone else see it?

I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think. Was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is 'Who in the world am I?' Ah, that's the great puzzle!
