Grow bags, should I start giving them light?

So I knocked up two grow bags about 28 days ago. At about 40% colonization I mashed the mycilium, but I must have missed the very bottom of the bags because thats the only place they aren't colonized. So I'm wondering if I should leave them be until completely done, then start giving light, or should I give light now? or maybe mash up the bottom of the bags? Any input is greatly appreciated! btw this is my first grow!

I know the pics aren't the best... my camera is kinda old!

After 28 days, they should have long ago been fully colonized. I'd break them up again. If they don't recover, it means they've stalled out for some reason, such as bacteria or lack of air. Hopefully, you've got a plenum of air in the top of the bags. RR

Thanks! I was thinking they should be finished by now, and they are almost 100%, just the very bottom is not finished. I think they have taken so long because my temps have been between 68F and 70F. Also when you say you hope the tops of my bags have plenty of air, should they be inflated?

They don't need to be under pressure, but the tops of the bags near the filter should have plenty of air space to help dissipate gasses. Lay the bags on their sides to finish colonizing. Perhaps the weight of the substrate is compacting it enough to make it hard on the mycelium. RR

ahhh I see, well I have had them sitting on a shelf in a dark closet with the tops unfolded and free, but I could grab both sides of each bag near the filter and pull them apart some to give them more air. Also I'm going to go ahead and mash the bottom around and hopefully they will finish in a few days!
edit: Ok I just read your last msg again, So I'm not going to mash them now, I will put them on there sides!! Thanks for the info! I should have asked this about a week ago!

I just pulled the tops of the bags apart to give them more air, and put them on their side. Rhe way they were still flat together I don't know how they were getting any air, and it also gave me a better look at the top of the mycilium, and it looks great! Thanks again RR!!
