Dangers of "Ornamental" Poppy Pod Tea?
    #12929567 - 07/21/10 11:19 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I have poppy pods that I've posted here before and people were uncertain but a few peops thought they were active.

Is their any possible negative side effects from drinking tea from the pods if they're not "active"?

Theres no morphine or codeine in Oriental poppies(Papaver orientale), just thebaine. so there would be no point in making pod tea, the only use they have is extracting the thebaine to use to synthesis a stronger synthetic opioid.

woops couldnt see the pics before, yeah there not Orientals and do look active so ignore the above

Haha sweeeet, took weeks to find a straight answer to whether they're active. I'm going to put 8 into a tea and sip it over an hour or two, see where it takes me.
Thanks, I was wondering if their would be a side effect cause I wasn't sure if they were active, but looks like I'm safe either way.

Those look like Peony poppies which are Papaver somniferum. They should be active.

Well there are dangers of overdosing on active poppy pod tea, it's not unheard of, but if you've done your homework you should be fine.

Off topic, but TTT, what is that flower in your avatar/sig? It's beyond delightful.

Yeah man, once you see Orientale,Shirley, and all the other various species of poppy, you will never mistake them for a true opium poppy,or their pods, which you have:thumbup:Even the foliage on the others  looks nothing like a true opium poppies.
