I've been getting this idea of some big bang kind of thing happening to the world at some point that will destroy the world...
Can scientists rlly know enough to predict what will happen with earth over the next few years?

Quite likely considering their vast knowledge of natural processes and what cause them.
The asteroid collision that may have wiped out the dinosaurs obviously did not wipe out the earth.
It most likely would take a collision with another planet or large planet satellite object to do that.

When our sun is dying that will cause the earth to melt and explode/vaporise. That's several years away however.
